AEBN, X-Play Ink Major VOD Deal

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Rumored to be the biggest deal that the adult industry of this type, production company X-Play has granted AEBN exclusive online distribution rights to its next six releases.

The deal guarantees AEBN first-screening rights to X-Play's successful "Not" series which mimics popular sit-coms. Future X-Play titles in this AEBN deal include "Not Bewitched XXX," "Not the Bradys XXX Marcia Marcia Marcia," "Not Three’s Company XXX," "Not The Love Boat XXX" and "Not the Cosbys XXX."

The recently released "Not Bewitched XXX" will be the first of the new "Not XXX" titles to be part of the new deal. The title will be available on AEBN Nov. 23.

"'Not the Bradys XXX' was No.1 in every market and 'Not Bewitched XXX' and other upcoming movies will also achieve the top spots as they are released over the coming months," Marc Bruder of Cable Entertainment Distributors said.

The deal grants AEBN exclusive distribution rights for seven months on each title following the initial two-month DVD sales window, the companies stated in their press release.

AEBN and X-Play's partnering demonstrates the growing importance of online distribution for both adult content producers and distributors. "We are excited to be a ground-breaking participant in this new-era distribution deal with AEBN," X-Play's president Jeff Mullen said.

“The adult movie business has entered a difficult phase and we understand exactly what is at stake, not only for us, but to other companies as well. Our strategic decision to partner with AEBN in such a major deal is designed to see X-Play thrive over the coming years.”

The shift in distribution poses unique challenges to the industry, a point that Mullen is quick to address.

“There are many issues between producers and major internet distributors. Through a common interest in obtaining lasting success, we have been able to work out numerous deal points with AEBN that will keep the integrity of the producer/internet distributor relationship healthy in the coming years."

Mullen would not comment on the specifics of the deal, but did offer that X-Play "is excited to be a ground-breaking participant in this new-era distribution deal with AEBN which, hopefully, will allow more quality companies to thrive in the future,”

X-Play currently has distribution deals with Hustler Video and Adam & Eve Pictures.

Terms of the deal were not revealed.
