Godfather XXX: A Parody

Just when I thought parodies were out, “The Godfather XXX” pulls me back in. Sexy, fun and clever, DreamZone has produced a parody that won’t be refused. Director Lee Roy Myer is in top form, poking fun at Francis Ford Coppola's Academy Award-winning mob drama without dumbing it down for porn audiences. The jokes are Tommy Gun fast and rarely miss their mark. The film’s opening, a nod to the original’s exchange between Vito Corleone and Bonasera, who asked the Godfather for an act of retribution on the day of his daughter’s wedding, is nowhere near as intense, but is truly hilarious — the funniest banter Myers has written thus far (and that’s saying something).

The opener is only rivaled by Myers’ take on the restaurant scene in which Michael Whorleone (Tommy Pistol) whacks rival Slutzo (April O’Neil) and a corrupt police captain with a dangling dildo before fucking Slutzo on a table. The sex is hot, but the part where Michael and Slutzo decide to “speak Italian” by breaking into stereotypical accents and professing their love for meatballs, is funny business done right.

What makes “The Godfather XXX” such a strong parody is the fact that Myers doesn’t try to take on the original’s scope, but instead shrinks it down to a concise, subtle display of spoof and homage. Pistol as Michael Whorleone turns in another quality performance, rich in deadpan. Kagney Linn Karter as Michael’s wife Kay Adams and the aforementioned O’Neil are stunning and fuck with tremendous vigor.
