Q&A: 2018 XBIZ Best Male Cam Model Ricky Rodeo Rides Into the Sunset

Q&A: 2018 XBIZ Best Male Cam Model Ricky Rodeo Rides Into the Sunset

Gunslingers. Outlaws. Cowboys. Few themes are as timeless, as romanticized in the juggernaut mythos of Americana, as the rugged frontiersman taking on all comers with steely-eyed determination in the Wild West.

And now, riding off into the sunset as 2018 XBIZ Best Male Cam Model, is Ricky Rodeo. Mind you, he ain’t no cosplayin’ cowboy, son, because this fella’s actually competed in professional rodeo. Yeehaw! Ride ‘em good, ride ‘em rough and ride ‘em where-the-sun-don’t-shine.

I’m going to keep hustling. I’m always looking for ways to improve myself as a model because I don’t want to become stagnant. I want each cam show and each video to be better than the last.

See, while the world will never get to watch Clint Eastwood or John Wayne whip out their pistols on cam, fire off a few loads and save a damsel from her distress with the deliverance of the D, they can lasso Rodeo for a live cam sesh on Chaturbate or kick back and crack open a hot one with his ManyVids clips.

Now, grab your Pabst Blue Ribbon, lean back in that lawn chair and fire up the nearest electronic device for an in-depth interview with Rodeo himself! And instead of tipping cows afterwards, why not tip this buckin’ bronco a few tokens while he spins those spurs? Giddyup!

XBIZ: What led you to become a cam model?

Rodeo: My girlfriend Macy Kennedy had been in the industry for a few years prior to us being together.

One night, she asked me to do a “couples show” with her, and I loved it. I started out only camming with her and it slowly led to me giving solo camming a shot.

I owe a lot of my success to her, because I had my own personal cam coach from the beginning. I don’t think I would be where I’m at today without her help and advice.

XBIZ: Tell us about the “Ricky Rodeo” brand, as far as your personality and persona.

Rodeo: Everything you see on cam — and in person — is real. As for the name, I competed in professional rodeo for years before I found my way into the adult industry.

My fans always tell me that they love that I’m not a “cosplay cowboy.” I love that I’ve built my following because of who I truly am, and not because of something I’m pretending to be. I feel that it’s given me a very loyal fan base that can relate to me on a personal level.

My personality is very outgoing. My viewers and I constantly crack jokes on one another, and I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. I want my cam room to be a place where people go to have a good laugh and get away from whatever problems they might be dealing with in life.

XBIZ: What is your favorite site for camming? How about for selling clips?

Rodeo: My favorite cam site is definitely Chaturbate. I started on Chaturbate, and that’s where all of my loyal fans are. Their apps and bots are extremely useful. They inform the viewer as well as keep them engaged during the show.

Chaturbate also has a huge variety of models. Everyone can find what they’re looking for on the site. Certain sites only allow certain genders or body types, and I’m thankful that Chaturbate welcomes everyone.

My favorite clip site is ManyVids. I just recently started focusing more on selling clips, but I definitely get the most traffic and best customer service on ManyVids.

XBIZ: Who are your closest cam model buddies in the biz?

Rodeo: Man, I could go on forever naming people that I admire in the industry, but my closest friends are obviously my girlfriend Macy Kennedy, Sir and Chrissy Leblanc from MyPerfectHarem, Tru and London from TruStori3s, Megan Sky and Mason Haven, as well as Rob & Rider.

I’ve known all of these people since my very first trade show. We constantly check up on each other, go to dinner at every trade show, share ideals, motivate one another and most of all, we love seeing each other succeed. We never have to worry about jealousy, because if one of us wins we all win. I love watching them crush every aspect of life, and they deserve every accomplishment life has to offer.

XBIZ: How do you promote your content on social media and elsewhere? Describe your marketing strategy.

Rodeo: I try to do most of my promotional stuff on Snapchat. I do use Twitter occasionally for video promo, but I try to keep it minimal. I personally hate when I’m trying to creep someone’s twitter, and it’s nothing but promo stuff, so I try to not do that to my fans.

My social media is kind of segregated. Twitter is to engage with fans, and keep them informed of show times. My free Snapchat is strictly promotional, my premium Snapchat is mainly for nudes and private Snap shows and my Instagram is obviously PG-13.

XBIZ: Tell us about your video clips. What is your approach to creating them and what kind of content seems to sell the best?

Rodeo: I try to create something for everyone. There are a million different fetishes and everyone has a different turn on. I obviously have things that I won’t do, but I definitely try to have as many options as possible.

I have so many ideas and visions that I haven’t brought to life yet, but I have big plans for the future. I think organic porn sells the best and is the best to watch. I love roleplay, but I don’t like watching porn that is noticeably scripted.

When you can tell that the performers are really into one another and enjoying what they’re doing, magic is made.

XBIZ: How was your experience at XBIZ Miami this year? What was it like being named 2018 XBIZ Best Male Cam Model?

Rodeo: I can honestly say that XBIZ Miami was the most fun I’ve ever had at any expo or convention. I love the way that it’s run. It’s the perfect mixture of business and pleasure. Models are given the opportunity to network without sacrificing any fun. The seminars are very educational. I love that XBIZ has actual models speak on their panel. No one can relate to models better than other models.

We all go through the same things, so it’s nice to hear how other people handle certain situations. I also love how everyone is treated equally at XBIZ. Certain expos favor certain models or genders, but everyone at XBIZ was treated like family. Every single person at XBIZ was so genuinely kind and helpful. I’m glad I got the opportunity to meet Moe, Leah, Melissa, Alejandro and the rest of the XBIZ crew!

Winning best male cam was honestly a dream come true. I put a lot of effort into my craft and getting the recognition is an amazing feeling. I owe the award to my fans though. They made it possible. I wouldn’t be where I am without them, and I’m forever grateful for every single one of them. I also want to thank every guy that was in my category. They all motivate me to be better, and like I stated in my acceptance speech they all deserve a trophy. I just happen to be the guy that got it.

XBIZ: What’s next for your adult entertainment career?

Rodeo: I’m going to keep hustling. I’m always looking for ways to improve myself as a model because I don’t want to become stagnant. I want each cam show and each video to be better than the last.

One day I would love to run my own production company and turn all of my visions into reality. There are so many models that I would love to see do great things. I always tell my group that if I eat, we all eat, so I plan on hustling until nobody is hungry.
