Thank you for answering my letter to you, and getting me up to speed on some current events. As you can imagine, I’m rather cut-off in here from the industry news, especially since we can’t even get AVN or the XBIZ magazines. I’m sure that I can get your newsletter though, since there’s no naughty pictures in it, so put me on the list, and start by sending me that one you put out if you please.
I’m glad to get the message out about the inherent unfairness and arbitrariness of my case. It’s bad enough that I didn’t even ship the videos across the country to the postal inspector posing as a real customer, but no one from that area had even complained about my movies or websites beforehand. People need to be reminded that quite often, the government is not our friend and protector, but a predator that preys on people to feed its insatiable appetite of the prison system. The constitution was not created to protect man from his fellow man so much as it was created to protect the common man from the corrupt government.
In all my years of business, I’ve gotten very few complaints about my movies, from people who feel that they didn’t get their money’s worth when they purchased them. But I’ve had tends if not hundreds of thousands of people write me or come up to me at a trade show or on the street and tell me how much they’ve appreciated my movies in the past, and are looking forward to seeing them again. Yet here I sit behind these prison walls. I’ve had a few employees who’ve complained after the fact that I worked them too hard, and they felt that they were unfairly compensated. Yet what boss hasn’t? When I pay a performer a thousand dollars or more for a couple of hours work, then I expect that person to bust their ass and put up with some hard, sweaty, intense work. In 17 years in the business, I’ve had only 2 people quit before they finished a scene, and one of them came back.
I’m glad to hear you’re finally going to launch your new website. I can’t wait to see it, and am sure that it’s going to be a big improvement over the previous version. The way things are going with mass communications now days, you’ll have to start an FSC Twitter blog, to keep people informed about everything going on in the 1st Amendment business, and beyond. I’m sure you’ve heard that the government is going after so-called obscene cartoons lately. I thought they had hit the rock bottom when they went after and convicted that older lady for her Red Rose website. But they outdid themselves by prosecuting people for comic book art. There just is no justice in America as long as that kind of thing is happening. And I fear that it could get much worse in the future. It seems that George Orwell was correct; he just missed the date by a few years. The day of Big Brother is here, and the question is not IF you’re paranoid, but if you’re paranoid enough.
I wish you luck with your attack on the 2257 recordkeeping regulations. With any luck- and Lord knows I’m due for some- I’ll get my conviction overturned when we present my case for reconsideration before the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in late October. We’ve got a very hefty and detailed filing, with 9 categories and 19 separate arguments for complete reversal or at least a vastly reduced sentence. We are even taking aim at the constitutionality of the obscenity law itself, and hope to regulate it to the trash-heap of legal history once and for all where it belongs. It’s also a very expensive case, but the victory would be priceless.

I really hope you can survive and even thrive during these difficult economic times when all the money in the universe is going to bail out the fat cats.
