Harmony Films California-Bound

LOS ANGELES — London-based adult production company Harmony Films will open shop in the U.S., bringing its North American sales and distribution in-house by November.

Harmony had previously been distributed by Evil Angel.

"We enjoyed four great years working with Evil Angel but we feel the time has come to develop and grow the Harmony Films brand across the U.S. and North America," Harmony Films sales and marketing manager Jason Maskell said. "We feel this will be achievable by bringing full control back in-house. Evil Angel did a great job introducing the Harmony brand in the States and for that we will be truly grateful."

Harmony Films series include "Young Harlots," "Slam It!" and "Fuck Me," shot with international performers in locations around the world. Harmony directors include Gazzman, who is also the company's head of production; Tanya Hyde, who directs fetish-themed titles; Steven Angelo and Dave West.

Harmony Films co-owner Steve Elvins cited the growth of the company's shooting schedule and the kinds of movies the company plans to produce as spurring the integration of its U.S. operations back to Harmony Films. "Danny [O'Sullivan, co-owner] and I are very grateful for the support that Evil Angel has given Harmony Films over the past couple of years," Elvins said. "We now would like to expand the brand by taking on a couple more directors so we can start to release three or possibly four films a month.

"When we released one film a month, it worked fine for both Evil Angel and ourselves — but we would not expect the situation to be mutually beneficial if we increase our releases. Our films will have a different feel and look to that of Evil Angel's, so this will create a marketing problem which would be easier resolved if Harmony Films stood on its own two feet." The first titles to be released in November by Harmony Films' American arm will be "Young Harlots: Dirty Secrets" and "Strangelove: Ladies of Pleasure."
