ASACP Makes Honor Roll

LOS ANGELES -- The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection has been named to an honor roll of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).

ASACP joined the American Petroleum Institute and the Michigan Dental Association, among others, in receiving third-round recognition from the subscription-based ASAE, which sponsors a yearly “honor roll” for associations exhibiting excellence in advocacy.

ASACP was honored for its CPHotline.org, a resource for individuals and companies to report possible child pornography on the Internet, particularly via file-sharing services.

“CPHotline.org saved the P2P Patrol [P2PPatrol.org] years of development and provided an immediate method for P2P customers to report suspected CP [child pornography]," stated Joan Irvine, executive director of the ASACP.

The ASAE is an individual membership organization made up of 22,000 association executives and industry partners representing nearly 12,000 organizations, according to its website.

Numerous adult-oriented companies have earned ASACP’s seal of approval through constant monitoring of their sites for illegal or suspect content. CPHotline.org, which was introduced last year, is yet another resource ASACP offers, Irvine said.

“ASACP knows that there are multiple distribution methods for illegal images on the Internet. We felt it was important to help other organizations and industries combat CP by sharing our recently developed technology platforms,” she said.

The Associations Advance America Honor Roll was instituted in 2002 by the Washington-based ASAE.
