Vivid’s ‘Cry Wolf’ Hits Stores June 18

LOS ANGELES — Vivid Entertainment’s “Cry Wolf” will be released June 18, starring Monique Alexander and directed by legendary filmmaker Paul Thomas.

“It’s about a girl and a guy that set up someone for blackmail and it backfires on them,” Thomas told XBIZ.

“Monique ends up being attacked, and it’s about how she tries to get even for that.” He added. “It’s a very good story, a well-written script and well acted. Monique is the best she’s ever been. It’s a very sexy film; there’s a lot of sexual behavior that’s not just fucking.”

Thomas is one of the last directors to shoot big budget, plot-driven features on film, and he said that the difficulty in creating a film is maintaining credibility while incorporating sex scenes into the story. He pointed to two blockbuster releases that he helmed as examples of how the process works for him onscreen.

“If there’s any flaw in the movie, it always is the case that the pace of the plot slows down once in awhile to accommodate a sex scene,” Thomas said.

“If ‘The Masseuse’ is a classic, if my remake of ‘Devil in Miss Jones’ is a classic, it’s because all the sex revolves around the main character. You’ll never see in one of my movies, having to take time out for the sex that is not integrated to the plot. The challenge is always to make these things as sexy as possible, without ruining the flow of the film,” he said.

Thomas conceived the story for “Cry Wolf” based on a mainstream movie that he had seen, and then worked with a scriptwriter to create the final concept.

“One thing that I’ve been able to do over the years, as well as anyone, is to make these projects plausible, believable,” Thomas added. “Not to make them ridiculous in a pornographic way — because they can be. The performances, the story have to be credible — not incredible, but credible. If you allow yourself, you can really sink into the movie.”

Thomas hinted also that his next upcoming release, “Unfaithful,” will star a new, unnamed Vivid contract performer that has already achieved some level of celebrity. He would not comment further on who the mystery star might be.

“Cry Wolf” stars Alexander, Stefani Morgan, Tyla Wynn, Staci Thorn, Riley Mason, Marlie Moore, Lexxi Tyler, Tory Lane, Carly Parker, Holly Wellin, Devon Lee, Jayna Oso, Mr. Marcus, Marcos Leon, Steven St. Croix and Jay Huntington.
