Joanna Angel, Asa Akira to Appear at Transworld Skateboarding Awards

LOS ANGELES — Performers Asa Akira and Joanna Angel will appear at the 10th annual Transworld Skateboarding Awards Friday night at the Avalon in Hollywood. Vouyer Media contract director Van Styles — whose longtime association with the skateboarding community contributed to the company's involvement — also is scheduled to appear.

Akira and Angel will escort presenters and provide trophies to winners at the ceremony, which is produced by Transworld Skateboarding magazine.

During the awards ceremony, eight awards will be given to professional skateboarders in the categories of Best Rookie, Best Street Skater, Best Transition Skater, Best Team, Best Video, Best Video Part, Best Two Video Parts, TWS Readers' Choice and the TWS Legend Award. This year, the TWS Legend Award will be presented to skateboarding star Tony Hawk."

Angel's second release under her distribution deal with Vouyer Media, "P.O.V. Punx," will street June 17. Akira's first Vouyer Media title, "Vince Vouyer's Control Freaks," streets June 24.

The Transworld Skateboarding awards will be held June 13 starting at 8 p.m. at the Avalon, 1735 N. Vine St. in Hollywood.
