The DVD contains footage shot in and around Amsterdam’s hash bars and brothels, said the performer, also known as Chris Bridges. The DVD also features interviews and escapades with the woman of Netherlands-based adult content provider InterClimax Productions.
Founded in 1997, InterClimax provides live cam feeds and maintains a U.S office in Miami. Among its sites is the Dutch “Voyeurhouse.” The company also hosts an affiliate program and offers ad-sharing incentives.
Ludacris, whose hits include “Yeah,” “Roll Out” and “Your Fantasy,” follows Digital Underground and Snoop Dogg into the porn demimonde for this, his first DVD, which a Def Jam Records representative calls “crazy even by Ludacris standards.”
The rapper shot scenes with InterClimax’ Amsterdam talent in March, and referred to the DVD footage as uncensored. Def Jam is keeping silent on whether or not the DVD actually features sex acts or if the coverage is limited to a more explicit version of the cavorting found in rap videos.
"I know that the first thing people think of when they hear 'Red Light District' is Amsterdam," Ludacris said, "but I'm referring to a state of mind, where there are no limitations to what I can say, or [what] I can do."
Hip-Hop publication PrefixMag called the CD on which the DVD is based a mixed bag. “Like a trip to Amsterdam, the album is a blurry haze with only a few sobering moments,” the review said.
The DVD arrives in stores July 19.
