TnA Media Group has launched XXXSiteCDs.com, which works like this:
• Webmasters can use XXXSiteCD.com to add an instant-purchase feature to their FHGs. That way, if surfers want to buy the photos onscreen without the commitment of a subscription, they can.
• Producers and retailers can sell the business-card-sized CDs in stores, typically in small, cashier-counter displays. The CDs include photo sets or video sets that link to FHGs. Industry professionals can also link to online stores or other moneymaking portals from a CD gallery.
The company concedes that a major concern of such content delivery is piracy, and to that end, they've sought to thwart content thieves by embedding the photos in a Windows executable file. In addition, the CDs come with protections that block file sharing.
But when it comes to simple screen captures, TnA Media Group CEO Brian Tarbell told XBIZ that his product can’t stop a pirate from stealing content that way, though he added that it would take an inordinately diligent thief to get much mileage out of such a plot.
“It’s really impossible to stop some determined enough from screen-capping the images and bringing them into Photoshop,” he said. “But the quality won’t be quite the same.”
TnA Executive VP Melissa Juhl said that commitment-phobe surfers are their main target.
“With XXXSiteCDs, paysites have the ability to sell individual photo or video sets to customers who otherwise may not subscribe to their website,” she said. “By linking from a FHG directly to a download version of the CD, webmasters will be able to monetize their content to surfers who may not commit to a monthly subscription.”
