Free Speech Coalition Partners with NCSF

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. — The Free Speech Coalition has announced a strategic partnership with the Baltimore-based National Coalition for Sexual Freedom, an advocacy organization for alternative sexuality and fetish communities.

The two organizations will pool resources to address issues of interest to their respective clienteles, raise funds and increase membership.

FSC Communications Director Tom Hymes said that the 18 USC § 2257 law has a direct effect on the leather, fetish, polyamory and swingers’ groups the NCSF represents.

“Now, more than ever, it is critical for like-minded people to unify in the struggle for sexual freedom and expression,” Hymes said.

Founded in 1998, the NCSF maintains an online document library, a legal and media outreach database and an Incident Response system that was created to provide assistance to individuals and groups within the alternative sexual expression communities.

The NCSF Media Outreach Page includes tips for fetish community members to remember when speaking to reporters. “Repeat these sound bites over and over,” the site suggests, listing several methods of presenting a positive face on what might be confusing subjects.

“Say, ‘Contrary to stereotypes, there are many women who enjoy being sexually dominant, and many more people who enjoy switching roles.’ Or, ‘People can roleplay with roles and experience things they normally wouldn't get to do in their real life.’”

The NCSF also has successfully aided parents in being recognized as “fit,” despite opposing arguments that interest in fetishes or alternate sexuality are detrimental to healthy parenting.

The two organizations began their partnership on July 1.
