Passion Expo Gets Boost From IPTV

BRIGHTON, U.K. — Internet protocol TV channel Passion TV will bring adult and mainstream products to its first-ever consumer expo, also called Passion, which is scheduled for May 24-25 at Earls Court One in London.

Passion TV lifestyle-based programming is aimed at the women’s market and offers a blend of both adult and mainstream products. The expo will be a live, interactive environment where the channel can expand its reach to the consumer.

“The adult market is becoming much more mainstream and I think that which, for couples, used to be a little taboo, is now attracting curiosity,” Passion sales executive Nadine Carter said.

In a video interview with EVENTS: review James Latham, Carter added that expo was “an opportunity for women and couples to discover their passion.”

The event has been organized by an all-female team and geared to appeal to couples as well as middle-aged women with expendable income; whereas other adult consumer shows in the U.K. have been aimed at a younger, mostly male demographic.

Several show vendors reiterated Carter’s views on the emerging importance of the “bedroom culture” and the female market.

“It is time that women have more influence on the adult industry and it is certainly time to get rid of the cliché that women aren’t interested in ‘that sort of thing,’” The Hourglass’ Nicole Klein said.

“We bring so much variety to the industry, from corsets to pasties and erotic poems to hardcore pornography,” Klein added. “I think it is fantastic that Passion will give that variety a home, so women and couples finally have an event tailored to their individual tastes.”

Lingerie manufacturer EdenCoeur’s Maureen Graham said, “The era has been valid for quite a while, but the exhibition industry hasn’t really capitalized on that. Other industries have — you only have to look at TV program and films. It is all about women and our capacity to make decisions. The exhibition industry has been late coming to that.”

Passion TV is a new IPTV channel available through British telecom service provider PlayTV UK set-top box service, but also viewable on IPTV channel GoXXX.

Tickets for the Passion expo can be purchased at the Passion TV website.
