FSC, HotMovies Announce ‘FreedomStreams’ Date

CANOGA PARK, Calif. — HotMovies.com has announced that it will once again hold its one-day fundraising event, FreedomStreams, to raise funds for the Free Speech Coalition, to cover both ongoing operating expenses and the anticipated renewal of the FSC’s 2257-related litigation efforts.

FreedomStreams ’08 will be held on April 15. Participating studios will donate their day’s earnings to the FSC, and HotMovies will match those donations dollar-for-dollar. Last year’s event raised nearly $20,000 with help from more than 300 straight and gay studios.

“This will be the third year National A-1, the parent company to HotMovies.com, has led the way to raise funds through a FreedomStreams event,” HotMovies stated in a press release. “It took months of preparation and hard work by the staff of HotMovies.com to enlist the support of their online studios for this special event.”

Scott Lowther, FSC director of membership services, praised the ongoing efforts by HotMovies to support the FSC.

“The concept was brilliantly simple, and the end result was a collaborative partnership that was, to date, responsible for the largest member-driven fundraising event in FSC’s history,” Lowther said. “With the help of our member studios and HotMovies’ leadership, we hope to raise even more this year.”

Studios wishing to participate in this year’s event are asked to contact JoAnn at JoAnn@guesswho.com or at (800) 640-1056.
