Celebrity Blow-Up Dolls Create Buzz for Pipedreams

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — A line of celebrity love dolls has attracted mainstream attention for manufacturer Pipedreams. The inflatable knock-offs parody mainstream personalities like Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Jessica Simpson.

The latest celebrity love doll is the Sarah Jessica Porkher, with a tagline on the packaging that reads, “Loves sex in her shitty.”

So far, stories about the celebrity line have appeared in Radar magazine, as well as various blogs including D-Listed, Jezebel, Defamer, Anorak and Simply Left Behind, among others.

Pipedreams COO Nick Orlandino, who is also in charge of product development for the company, created the concept.

“What we do is try to find a look-alike,” Pipedream sales executive Alicia Ferro told XBIZ. “Then when Nick finds a look-alike, we do a doll.”

Images of the look-alike models are used for the love-doll packaging.

“So right now, he’s looking for a Madonna, he’s looking for a Britney Spears, and we’re expanding it to male dolls,” Ferro added. “He wanted to do a Justin Timberlake, but just hasn’t found anybody yet.”

Currently, the line features 11 dolls including the J-Ho, the Paris, the Jessica Sin (Jessica Alba), Dirty Christina (Christina Aguilera) and the Lindsay Fully Loaded models, among others.

Ferro said that the line has been on the market for more than three years, but the company has yet to hear from official representatives of any of the parodied celebrities.

“Not yet,” Ferro said — but with recent publicity, she added, “You never know.”

The “Super Star” love dolls retail for $19.95 and up.
