Highlands Will Host XRCO Awards

LOS ANGELES — The 2008 XRCO Awards will be held at The Highlands event venue, located at the Hollywood and Highlands Center, in the heart of Hollywood, Calif. The event is scheduled for April 30 at 9 p.m. PDT. The location also recently hosted the XBIZ Awards gala, and is located adjacent to the Kodak Theater, which hosts the Academy Awards.

"I'm thrilled to be a part of taking the XRCO to the next level," XRCO co-chairman Dirty Bob said.

"The XRCO began in 1984 and this will be our 24th Annual XRCO Awards show," Bob said. "While our old location, the Century Club, suited our purpose for many years, it is apparent and obvious that we, and the industry, have outgrown such a venue. This new location is simply awesome and is ideal for our industry-only event."

Director/performer Gina Lynn and Wicked contract performer Carmen Hart will emcee this year’s XRCO show.

“I am very excited about hosting the XRCO Awards,” Lynn said. “The voting members represent a wide range of critics from print to the Internet and the winners truly reflect the best of the best. I am proud to be co-hosting and thrilled to be standing so close to Carmen Hart all night long.”

The XRCO Awards will also mark the occasion by introducing its new logo, designed by Goliath Graffix.

The X-Rated Critics Organization was founded in 1984, made up of adult industry writers and editors. The first XRCO Awards were presented in 1985 as a way for critics to recognize excellence in performance and adult productions, and its Hall of Fame is the industry’s first.

The late director Jim Holliday was XRCO’s honorary historian until his death in 2004, at which time classic performer Bill Margold stepped in as historian temporarily. Industry writer Jared Rutter, who was XRCO chairman from 1984-2004, is considered “honorary chairman” and still an active part of the awards show.

Industry members may RSVP for the event by contacting April Storm via email.
