ASACP to Address 'Hot Issues' at Cybernet Expo

SAN DIEGO, Calif. –The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection is slated to appear on the “Hot Issues and Problems in the Adult Internet” seminar at the upcoming Cybernet Expo gathering in San Diego, Calif., in June.

Joan Irvine, executive director for ASACP, will join fellow panelists Connor Young of YNOT Masters, Scott of Eroticy, Michelle Freridge of the Free Speech Coalition, Gonzo of Oprano and attorney Eric M. Bernstein. The panel will be moderated by the Jay Kopita of YNOT, also the event's organizer.

"This year I am thrilled to add Joan Irvine to the list of esteemed speakers who are willing to tackle the important issues and discuss possible solutions in our growing and ever changing industry," Kopita said, calling last year's "Hot Issues" seminar a "real crowd pleaser."

Cybernet Expo, now in its eighth year, was founded by Fay Sharp and Dave Gould in the late 1990s as a mom-and-pop operation that attracted pioneers of the industry.

Timed for 1:45 p.m. on June 14, the "Hot Issues" seminar will address the newly revised 2257 law, First Amendment issues of particular interest to adult webmasters, internal and external threats to the industry's livelihood, unethical and illegal business practices, discrimination, public market opportunities and the mainstreaming of porn.

"Being a panelist at Cybernet Expo will be a great opportunity to discuss the very important issue of child protection on the Internet with a very targeted and concerned group of webmasters," Irvine said. "In addition, given that Cybernet Expo provides a spectacular venue for quality networking, I feel that the event will be a great vehicle for ASACP and other companies looking to make the industry a better place to do business in."

As prize sponsor of the panel, the FSC will donate one annual membership worth $300 and a one-hour consultation with a First Amendment attorney.

Gracie Bautista, ASACP's membership coordinator will also attend Cybernet Expo. She is responsible for the membership program and tradeshows and will be attending all seminars and social functions.

Cybernet Expo will take place at Shelter Pointe Hotel in San Diego, Calif., from June 12-15.
