New VPs of Sales, Online Media at Private

BARCELONA — European adult multimedia company Private Media Group has promoted former Director of Wireless Technology Tim Clausen to vice president of sales and former Director of Internet Fiona Garvey to vice president of online media.

Clausen, who came to Private from telecom T-Mobile International in 2005, has been responsible for helping to increase Private’s presence in the mobile market, by developing access to Private mobile content in 35 countries, more than 83 mobile networks.

Clausen, a graduate of International Business Studies from European Business School, London, also formerly held the position of general manager of mobile data service provider Red Message in Germany.

“Here at Private we are committed to providing the best in erotic entertainment, which is distributed on both linear and digital formats,” Clausen said. “My goals are to increase both traditional DVD sales along with new digital platforms by providing the consumer with genre led content along with big Private blockbuster movies.

“Private is a global content provider and we are targeting all territories that permit adult content. We are also aggressively licensing the Private brand and ‘Silver Girls’ trademark to major players in the luxury product market. I feel that this is a key incremental revenue source with a huge potential, a good example of this is the adult toy business,” Clausen said.

Garvey, who is a graduate of Dublin’s Trinity College and the Dublin Institute of Technology with degrees in business management and marketing, has been with Private for six years and has worked as customer service director and Internet director before her promotion to vice president of online media.

“We are global content provider and the biggest adult entertainment company in Europe. Our online strategy includes introducing niche sites, setting up a true European VOD site, improving our flagship site Private.com, growing our community and social networks and expanding into the virtual worlds,” Garvey said. “To do this, we will be developing strategic partnerships with third parties to expand our online offering, both from a content and technical perspective.”

The promotions of Clausen and Garvey are in line with aggressive efforts on the part of the company to expand its presence in new media distribution platforms, such as IPTV and mobile formats.

Private, which is listed on NASDAQ, recently reported a significant increase in revenue in new media markets, even as traditional forms of distribution — such as DVD sales and print publication — have dropped off over the last year.
