Digital Playground Director of Marketing Adella told XBIZ that with the price of HD DVD players dropping and the holiday season coming up, the company thought this was a great way to gear up for its hi-def transition.
"We are positioned to dominate the HD DVD market in adult because we have a library of over 300 titles ready to roll out," Adella said. "By mid-2008, we will be releasing new releases on standard and HD DVD simultaneously with separate packaging and UPCs."
Adella also said that as soon as Blu-ray replication becomes easier and less expensive, Digital Playground will release its titles on both HD DVD and Blu-ray discs.
"We want the consumer to have every option," she said.
Among the HD DVD titles are "Jesse Jane in Pink," "Jack's POV 1," "CockAsian" and "Deeper 1."
Digital Playground CEO Samantha Lewis said that the company knows today's consumers are sophisticated and expect more when making home entertainment purchases.
"Digital Playground forecasted this development early on when HD was just an emerging consumer trend," Lewis said. "Today, HD DVD and Blu-ray mentions are everywhere and HD is fast becoming a household term. Knowing this would contribute to tremendous HD sales this holiday we have structured the timing of our HD releases in a way that will allow retailers to keep up with consumer demand now and in the New Year."
Digital Playground director Joone said that the company knows what its fans want to see because he and many people at the studio are a part of the same audience, demanding with discriminating taste and high standards.
"HD is an essential part of this quotient as it brings with it so many rewards," Joone said. "To capture these benefits, it's essential to shoot with the larger studio HD camera and not a standard handheld device, as too many people do today. There is a huge difference in quality which is why we have been shooting with these studio-quality HD cameras for more than four years now and will continue to do so."
Other titles released on HD DVD include "Jesse's Juice," "Contract Star," "Teagan: Sexual Freak 2," "Teagan's Juice," "Intoxicated," "Lascivious Liaisons," "Mrs. Behavin' "Jack's Big Ass Show 1," "Jack's Teen America: Mission 4," "Jack's Teen America: Mission No. 5" and "Jack's Playground: Volume 27."
