Banderas' outstanding overall body of work in front of the camera garnered him a shot at Male Performer of the Year, with an additional three nominations for Best Group Sex Scene, Video for Third Degree Films' "DreamGirlz," Digital Playground's "Naked Aces 2" and Harmony Films' "Naomi's Fuck Me."
His contributions to "Nina Hartley's Guide to Porn Star Sex Secrets" from Adam & Eve Pictures and Mercenary Pictures' "Top Guns 6" were also recognized for the Best Anal Sex Scene and Best Threeway Sex Scene categories, respectively.
His work as a director also snagged "Culos Gigantes 2," his title for Mercenary Pictures, a Best Ethnic-Themed Release, Latin nom.
"I'm very ecstatic that my work over the past year is appreciated by the critics at AVN," he said. "I've done some excellent scenes but I'm overwhelmed by the Male Performer of the Year nomination and that my work as a director for 'Culos Gigantes 2' put it on the short list for Best Ethnic-Themed Release, Latin."
Banderas added that he plans to continue performing, as well as expanding his role as a director with Mercenary Pictures and Hot Zone, his production company.
The awards show will be held Jan 12 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
