Dana DeArmond Invited to Speak at UC-Irvine

IRVINE, Calif. — Adult performer Dana DeArmond admits that she wasn’t much of a student growing up. But on Nov. 8, DeArmond and her boyfriend, male performer Daniel, will attend UC-Irvine as guest lecturers for its Sociology of Sexuality class.

DeArmond told XBIZ that she got hooked up with the class through fellow performer Belladonna who lectured there previously. Following a lecture from Kassia Wosick-Correa, DeArmond and Daniel will speak about their involvement in the adult film industry and the dynamics of their relationship. The pair also will screen video clips and answer questions from the class.

As a performer who works with others outside her relationship, DeArmond said she feels that she has a unique perspective on sexuality and relationships.

“Lets face it, most people in the world outside of my own are not porn stars,” DeArmond said, “and it’s something that I have to be reminded of periodically. So it’s very refreshing to be able to expose a very intimate side of my life to a group of open-minded young people.”

DeArmond said she plans to screening clips from “Dana DeArmond Does the Internet,” which includes a bonus disc that reveals intimate details about her relationship dynamics with Daniel. “Dana DeArmond’s Role Modeling,” releasing Dec. 5, also will be shown among other titles.

“‘Role Modeling’ is a project I invented to help youths from around America break into the business,” DeArmond said. “Most of them had contacted me over the Internet, explaining that they were interested in what I do. I think the class will be interested in ‘Role Modeling’ because it shows the emotional roller coaster these people go on trying to make a firm decision about taking the plunge into sex work.”

When asked for departing words of wisdom she intends to give the class, DeArmond responded, “The world is your oyster. Don’t live by the moral standards of others. In short, if it feels good do it.”
