Hickok, who published poetry on various Satanist websites under the name Draconis Blackthorne, identified himself as a “retired film director” on an expired Geocities web page. In addition to acting and directing in adult, Hickok had been involved in the production of the 1994 horror movie “Ceremony.”
According to an article in the Long Beach Press Telegram, Hickok had been seeing a therapist, who called 911 on April 28 to report his patient was suicidal. The therapist said that Hickok – whose name was not revealed in the article – had threatened to jump from the balcony of his 11th floor apartment facing Ocean Boulevard.
When police and paramedics arrived, Hickok refused to talk with them or open the door. His body had landed on the roof of a waiting police car by the time authorities broke into his apartment. The force of the landing buckled the patrol car’s roof. No witnesses to the jump or fall have come forward.
Hickok entered the adult industry in the late 1980s, working at first as a talent recruiter. Among his discoveries was Shannon Wilsey, who became famous as Savannah. Savannah died of gunshot wounds in 1994, a death without witnesses that was later ruled a suicide.
According to related entries in the Internet Adult Film Database, Hickok performed in or directed almost 300 titles from 1989 to 1995, sometimes casting himself in productions.
