“The last title that Vivid released with Janine was ‘Emperor’ and it’s still one of our best-selling titles. Before that was ‘Janine’s Been Black-Maled,’" Vivid’s David Peskin told XBIZ.
“We have a huge number going out the door on ‘Pipedreams,’ and it just shows the star power that Jeanine still has. She’s one of the biggest ever in adult,” he said.
The movie costars Justine Joli, Sophia Sandobar, Austin Kincaid, Venus, Melissa Lauren, Manuel Ferrara, Steven St. Croix and Jerry.
Ferrara plays a plumber who stumbles onto an adult production at a house where he is fixing the pipes. His character decides that he wants to break into the industry, and so he convinces his brother, a talent agent, to help him produce a “Z-grade” movie, which turns out to be a big hit.
P.T. told XBIZ that the movie has a heavy fetish feel to it, especially for a studio like Vivid, which is better known for its softer side.
“The movie has a very, very S&M, B&D theme to it — it’s a very kinky movie,” P.T. said. “There’s a real satirical edge to it, like a black comedy. It’s about what happens when an innocent gets in the hands of a not-so-innocent and she drags him over to the dark side.”
“To me it’s all motivated by the story, so if the story takes me into dark areas — if the characters and the motivation take me into Fetish Land, if they take me into the roughest, kinkiest sex in the world — it’s all good,” he said.
Well known for directing Vivid’s biggest budget features, P.T. also helmed “Emperor” and “Janine’s Been Black-Maled,” as well as several other titles featuring Janine.
He explained that, for his films, there are several layers of involvement that come from chemistry with the storyline, as well as chemistry between performers.
He said also that his favorite scene in the movie was one between Ferrara and Janine; one of three boy/girl scenes that Janine performs in the film.
“The scene with Manuel and Janine in the B&D parlor and being able to tie her up and she just really gets into it,” he said. “For some people it’s performing, but for a performer like Janine it’s not. It’s a great surprise, to see her — and she’s not bullshitting around — she’s genuinely into it.”
Describing the charisma that has made Janine one of the most popular performers of recent years, P.T. said, “Janine, from the moment I met her, was just an unbelievably sexual person. Everything she did was to the max. She never did a boring scene, ever. She’s really quite incredible.”
