NakedSword, Catalina Ink Exclusive Online Distro Deal

SAN FRANCISCO — Landmark gay studio Catalina Video has signed an exclusive, three-year deal with video-on-demand provider NakedSword-AEBN, for exclusive video-on-demand and streaming rights to Catalina’s entire award-winning catalog of titles.

None of the Catalina titles have ever been made available online, and many of them have been out of print for many years.

“I grew up watching many of the now-classic adult films in Catalina’s catalog. That they would choose us to loose their ‘online virginity’ is a huge honor. NakedSword customers who constantly demand only the highest quality content will no doubt be pleased to have access to this incredibly rich catalog,” NakedSword President Tim Valenti said.

Channel 1 Releasing (C1R), parent company of Catalina Video, said they chose NakedSword-AEBN because of their wide consumer reach, as well as for their success in promoting other gay brands in the Channel 1 portfolio.

The announcement follows the recent acquisition of Catalina Video by C1R. Legendary director and C1R partner Chi Chi LaRue said that not only did she grow up renting their classic videos in Minnesota, but was first hired by Catalina when she moved to Los Angeles to become involved in the adult industry.

“I'm thrilled that NakedSword will be bringing all those amazing Catalina classics to a new generation of porn lovers,” LaRue said. “When we acquired this legendary studio's catalog, I knew we could increase its exposure and revitalize the brand. And now with NakedSword partnering with us on this, we're guaranteeing this happens in a big way.”

Both NakedSword-AEBN membership and pay-per-view sites will begin broadcasting titles from the Catalina catalog as soon as possible, according to representatives at NakedSword.

Catalina was founded in 1978 by GAYVN Hall of Fame Director William Higgins.

The catalog of over 600 titles include such many award-winning, classic gay adult titles including “Boys of Venice,” “Power Tool,” “Big Guns,” “Class Reunion,” “Brothers Should Do It,” as well as more recent hits like “CatalinaVille” and “My Overstuffed Jeans.”

Some of the iconic stars who worked exclusively for or got their start with Catalina include porn legends Jeff Stryker, Steve Rambo, Lance, Matt Ramsey, Caesar and many others. Directors in Catalina’s arsenal include William Higgins, John Travis, Scott Masters and LaRue.
