According to Adults Only Public Relations Director Andrea Seed, the British Midlands is a prime location for a show of this type, drawing adult fans who might not have an opportunity to travel to London for similar events.
“Birmingham is centrally located and therefore will be more accessible to visitors from the north,” Seed told XBIZ. “Plus the West Midlands has a huge network of swingers and swinging clubs, a massive gay community. In a survey by an Internet search engine, people from Birmingham were the most likely to search for porn on the Internet. What more could you ask for?”
The Adults Only Show will feature interviews with British adult stars Ben Dover and Anna Span, adult star signings and photo opportunities for the fans, as well as live performances from a new rock band called Sweet Rebellion. Also, lap dancing lessons for both men and women and pole dancing demonstrations on the live stage will be provided by Spearmint Rhino and Tricky Dickys, the U.K.’s only male lap-dancing club.
Other European adult celebrities scheduled to appear include Cathy Barry, Omar and Harmony, among others.
According to Seed, the show is expecting up to 12,000 attendees over three days and response from the industry and public has been encouraging.
“The response from the industry has been great and very supportive,” she said. “We’ve had promotional staff on the streets over the past few weeks and the public is very excited about it as well. Most are looking for a fun weekend but we also have those that are curious as to what will be on display.”
The show also will host three contests.
Britain’s Sexiest Celebrity Couple has been narrowed down to a field of eight high-profile couples including David and Victoria Beckham; Posh and Beck’s wannabes Zach Lichman and Chanelle Hayes from TV show “Big Brother 8;” Prince Harry and girlfriend Chelsey Davy; George Michael and boyfriend Kenny Goss; Katie Price and husband Peter Andre; ex-footballer Jamie Rednap and his wife/former popstar Louise Rednap; TV presenters Vernon Kay and Tess Daly; and honorary Brit Madonna and film director Guy Ritchie.
The Sexiest Couple in Britain will be chosen from entrant couples, with the winners receiving a basket of gifts, a complimentary photo shoot and an exotic vacation to an as-yet-unnamed location.
Finally, Miss and Mr. Adults Only will be chosen from single entrants competing for $2,000 prize money, a photo shoot with a national publication and to be featured in print advertising for the 2008 Adults Only Show.
Winners will be decided by votes submitted by show attendees and visitors to the show website or MySpace page, as well as a VIP panel of judges for the Miss and Mr. Adults Only competition.
