KSEX often mounts remote broadcasts from adult industry functions, such as the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas or last month’s Britney Rears DVD launch party in Hollywood, but Tyler Faith’s dancing engagement at Tampa’s Déjà vu strip club will be the test run of a planned series of remote broadcasts from clubs around the country.
“We’re establishing KSEX as the industry voice,” program director Wankus told XBiz. "The station has partnered with booking agent Lee Networks and live entertainment site Camz.com to provide coverage of the events. All we need from a venue is DSL and we’re ready to go.”
Wankus said his crew will bring laptops and hard drives, a mixing board and a microphone. Camz.com will provide bandwidth and will simulcast the broadcast on its own site.
“It’s not like a traditional radio station where you have to point at a satellite.”
KSEX has steadily grown since its founding in 2001, and is currently searching for larger studio space, preferably in the San Fernando Valley.
Wankus said that while Burbank police have been “nothing but nice, and we’ve been nothing but legal,” the town’s conservative standards and its comparative distance from where porn is filmed in the Valley, as well as its current studio needs, make a move attractive.
The station is hoping to partner with a movie studio that can benefit from KSEX’ steady stream of industry talent and guests. A space-sharing deal with a movie studio will give KSEX room to grow and the opportunity to decorate its sets according to the style of the on-air host.
Florida's Lee Networks, founded in 1989, books a large percentage of adult film talent in the U.S. and Canada, where the company originated. Agent Dave Michaels told XBiz that Lee Networks was the first company to actively sell porn stars to perform at strip clubs. "We are the house that Christy Canyon built and Ginger Lynn put the roof on," he said.
KSEX plans to continue partnering with Camz.com to present upcoming club appearances by Ashton Moore and Carmen Luvana. “It’s a great value for the venue,” Wankus said. “KSEX comes with great advertising. Also, there’s a strict ‘no camera’ rule unless the audience wants to be filmed.”
