SafeCharge Selects Arcot Systems For Online Payments

SUNNYVALE, Calif. — Arcot Systems, a provider of secure e-payment and authentication solutions, has announced that SafeCharge, international payment service provider, has selected Arcot’s TransFort online payment security solution based on a global standard called "3-D Secure" and marketed as Verified By Visa, MasterCard SecureCode and JCB J/Secure. Banks and e-merchants rely on this solution to protect accounts with a customer-created password that must be presented when paying online. Arcot co-developed the 3-D Secure application with Visa and is now protecting more than 17 million payment accounts, 11,000 banks and 100,000 merchants worldwide.

“Deploying Arcot’s TransFort 3-D Secure Solution will provide our cardholders and merchants a powerful and well-tested technology to verify and protect their identities when shopping online,” David Avgi, CEO of SafeCharge International, said. “We chose Arcot because of the company’s proven leadership in providing banks and online merchants with a technologically superior solution for online payment security.”

3-D Secure programs bring the same level of security to Internet shopping as in the physical world by confirming that the online buyer is the actual cardholder.

“SafeCharge is a well-known and rapidly growing international payment service provider, and Arcot is proud to have such a leading company choose the TransFort solution,” Elis Nemes, president of Arcot International, said. “SafeCharge’s e-merchants will now be able to offer their customers a possibility to shop with greater confidence on the Internet knowing that their payment accounts are better protected.”

SafeCharge began in 2000 in response to the emerging need for a reliable and secure e-commerce payment system. SafeCharge developed an online fraud detection platform to protect merchants from the risks in the card-not-present environment of the Internet. SafeCharge is PCI certified and an international leading payment service provider, integrating high-end payment gateway services with one of the most powerful online fraud prevention solutions available. SafeCharge merchants are able to acquire direct merchant accounts without applying with different payment providers.
