Santa Monica Gallery to Host 'XXX 30 Porn-Star Portraits'

SANTA MONICA, Calif. — The Erotic Networks (TEN) is planning an April 1 party for the opening of Timothy Greenfield-Sanders' “XXX 30 Porn-Star Portraits” at the Bergamot Station Arts Center in Santa Monica.

TEN also is sponsoring the month-long gallery exhibition of photos taken for the book “XXX 30 Porn-Star Portraits” at Bergamot from April 2 to April 30.

In the book, Greenfield-Sanders' portraits recall Goya's “La Maja” by juxtaposing images of the stars fully clothed with ones in the same pose, but nude. Performers in the book include Jenna Jameson, Ron Jeremy, Nina Hartley, Sunrise Adams, Bella Donna and Chad Hunt.

The book also includes essays on pornography and culture from Gore Vidal, John Malkovich, John Waters, A.M. Homes and Salman Rushdie.

The exhibit also has been displayed at the Mary Boone Gallery in New York and the John Berggruen gallery in San Francisco.

“These photographs are a sign of the growing recognition of adult entertainment as another piece of the mosaic of popular culture," TEN President Ken Boenish said in a release. "TEN is proud to bring this wonderful exhibit to L.A.”

Greenfield-Sanders is a contributing photographer at GQ, Index and Vanity Fair. In November 2003, the Museum of Modern Art acquired a set of 700 portraits of art-world figures by Greenfield-Sanders, who lives and works in New York City.

TEN, which provides pay-per-view and video-on-demand services through cable, satellite and hotel platforms, is owned by Boulder, Colo.-based New Frontier Media.
