DVD Goes Deep Inside Ron Jeremy

CHATSWORTH, Calif. — “Being Ron Jeremy,” an independent comedy from writer-director Brian Burke and starring the Hedgehog himself, will be released March 15 on DVD.

Jeremy and co-star Mia Crowe will be signing copies of the disc on the night of the release at the Virgin Megastore in New York City’s Union Square, followed by an appearance March 19 at Tower Records in Los Angeles. p> The R-rated film is a send-up of the 1999 film “Being John Malkovich,” which featured an inspired concept in which a young file clerk discovers a portal into the movie star’s brain. But, as anyone who saw the original movie knows, the problem with actually being Malkovich was that he led a rather mundane life, leading viewers to ask, “Who would want to be John Malkovich?”

In “Being Ron Jeremy,” Berke re-imagines the concept as it might apply to an adult entertainment legend.

Berke plays Brian Pickles, a struggling comedian who discovers a portal into the body of adult star Jeremy while stuffing quarters into a peep-show booth. But the fact that Brian is a virgin with control issues sends Jeremy’s career into a tailspin.

“He lets go too soon,” Jeremy said. “Two strokes and he’s done. It ruins my career.”

The real Ron Jeremy panics, and calls on his acting coach and spiritual advisor, played by Andy Dick, for help in trying to reverse the process, and the two eventually find a cure that involves gas pills.

“There are some really great people in the movie,” Jeremy told XBiz. “It has lots of comedy and lots of sexy women.”

“Being Ron Jeremy” offers plenty of supplemental material for die-hard Jeremy enthusiasts, including footage of his stand-up comedy act, a slew of outtakes and deleted scenes, naked interviews with female co-stars and an improved parody of the A&E channel’s “Inside the Porn Actors Studio.”

The lighthearted spoof features cameos by a variety of adult film stars, including Teri Wiegel, Kendra Jade, Mary Carey, Guage, Alexandra Nice, Kira Eggers, Jacklyn Lick and Monique Dane. The film co-stars stars Mia Crowe as Berke’s on-screen girlfriend and Clinton-impersonator Rich Williams.
