This year’s F.O.X.E. event features a “broast,” or benign roast, of legendary actress Marylin Chambers, as well as a dance routine performed by a bevy of adult starletts. Award winners include Lexington Steele, voted favorite male star for a third straight year; Tera Patrick, who also is being honored for a third consecutive year; and Teagan Pressley, this year’s fan choice for favorite new star.
Event co-founder Bill Margold said he got the idea for F.O.X.E. from fans who would ask for his help getting into other adult awards shows, which were typically closed to the public. Margold liked the idea of providing a forum for everyday people who were willing to drop their raincoats and openly admit to watching adult films. But he credits the love of his life, adult star Viper, with putting up the seed money to get the show off the ground.
The organization started with a mailing list of 49 people and currently has a membership of about 1,300, all of whom are invited to attend the awards show.
Though the show is intended to be nothing more than a good time, Margold said any profits will benefit two serious causes. First will be getting director Fred Salaff out of Panamanian prison. Salaff has been locked up for several weeks after allowing his home to be used for a Devil’s Films shoot.
“This situation isn’t going away,” Margold told XBiz. “The American consulate doesn’t give a rat’s ass, so it’s up to us to get Fred out. We may not raise much money, but I’d like to be the first in line trying to help.”
Margold said the situation is reminiscent of his early days in adult, when arrests were just part of being in the business.
“We never shot on Fridays because if you got arrested on a Friday, you had to spend the weekend in jail,” Margold said. “I always got arrested on Tuesdays.”
The remainder of the proceeds will go to the Protecting Adult Welfare Foundation.
