Vivid Entertainment Moves Into Nightclub Business

LAS VEGAS — Vivid Entertainment is branching out and getting into the nightclub business.

The adult film studio has entered into a licensing agreement with Ark Restaurants Corp. to open Vivid at The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The new club, which overlooks the Las Vegas Strip, is slated to open its doors tomorrow.

Steven Hirsch, co-chairman of Vivid, says the deal extends the company’s move into mainstream entertainment ventures.

“[Its design] reflects the vibrancy and sensuality of the Vivid image,” Hirsch said. “It’s a really beautiful space and will take its place among the top clubs in Las Vegas.”

Upon entering the club, guests will walk under 20-foot-long wood trellises with syncopating beams of light that lead them into the main room. The club’s interior design features stained-wood columns and violet and burgundy wall coverings.

The Vivid nightclub also features holographic images of dancing girls projected throughout the club. Its dance floor is surrounded by a light-emitting wall.

“We think that visitors will be entertained and intrigued by our state-of-the-art holographic image display,” Hirsch said. “The color scheme will be muted yet dynamic and the lighting will change subtly to reflect the music and various moods during the evening.”

The nightclub is the former Venus club, which opened in 2001. It has 9,700 square feet with a maximum capacity of 250.

Van Nuys, Calif.-based Vivid has extended past film and online adult entertainment within recent years to book publishing, virility supplements, condoms, snowboards, calendars and comic books. In 2003, Vivid had an estimated $150 million in revenue.

Nationwide, Ark Restaurants owns and operates 22 restaurants and bars, 26 fast-food concepts, catering operations and wholesale and retail bakeries. Within The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino, Ark operates V Bar, Lutéce and Tsunami Asian Grill.
