First 24-Hour Hardcore Gay Channel Launched In Canada

TORONTO, Ontario — Maleflixxx, the world’s first 24-hour gay hardcore digital cable channel, debuted in Toronto this week on Canada’s largest cable television company, according to a spokesperson at Sureflix Digital Distribution, owner of the new channel.

“Maleflixx Television will deliver gay male content 24 hours a day, seven days a week, not just on specific days or in specific time slots,” said Sureflix President Eric John.

The new channel, available through a partnership between Sureflix, Priape, Adults Only Video and Channel Zero, is located at channel 358 on the Rogers Cable system, which reaches approximately 2.25 million viewers in eastern Canada.

Maleflixxx is available by subscription only and offers nearly 100 full-length movies each month from genres that include muscle, twink, leather and fetish. It also aims to air at least one new film every day.

“We recognized a large, un-served market in Canada,” Johnson said. “We are going to capture the lion’s share of that market by delivering hardcore gay adult programming not available on any other channel.”

According to Johnson, the channel’s offerings will include films from the Falcon, Thor Productions, Fox Studio, Tribal Pulse, Lucas Kazan, Sharpshooter libraries.

“We wanted to give our consumers choices, not only in content, but also in ways to access hardcore material,” said Erik Schannen, co-founder of Maleflixxx.tv, one of the leading distributors of gay video-on-demand content. “Television just seemed like the right fit for the time and represented another opportunity for us to utilize our leadership position for the delivery of gay content.”

The Maleflixx channel, launched in conjunction with the Adult Movie Channel and XXX Action Clips, two new straight channels, will be made available throughout Canada via cable and satellite over the course of the next several months, the company said.

“It just seemed like a natural evolution,” said Schannen. “Our years of experience in online VOD gave us the ability to know what sells and what gay consumers want. And because of our strong relations with adult studios, we have access to an almost limitless library of top quality materials.”

Schannen predicts that favorable reviews in Canada will lead the company to expand its offerings into the U.S. and possibly transcontinental.

“We fully expect to take what we learn from the Canadian market and replicate this television experience in the United State and Europe,” Shannen said. “Maleflixxx Television will grow from its Canadian base to be a global brand in the very near future.”

A monthly subscription the new channel costs $19.95 each month. Discounted bundle rates are also available.
