LOS ANGELES — RetailCurrent, a new tool that helps brands connect online shoppers with nearby retailers carrying their products, has officially launched.
Co-founded by Joreail Armstrong and Khalid Shannak, RetailCurrent enables brands to add a module to their product pages that shows shoppers which local stores have a specific item in stock and provides directions to those locations, a rep explained.
"A brand’s website may have a general store locator but not show which nearby stores carry the specific product a shopper is viewing," said the rep. "Customers may end up calling around, searching elsewhere, or giving up on the purchase altogether."
Armstrong elaborated on RetailCurrent's utility.
"A customer can discover a product online and still struggle to find it locally," he said. "That’s a missed opportunity for the brand that generated the interest and the retailer that invested in carrying it. RetailCurrent closes that gap, helping shoppers find products nearby and brands turn online marketing into support for their retail partners."
The rep added that the tool allows retailers to confirm in-store product availability and enables distributors to share data that helps shoppers locate products at nearby stores while protecting confidential partner and distribution records.
"This creates sales opportunities for retailers and helps drive replenishment orders for brands and distributors," the rep continued.
Added Armstrong, "Retailers put time and money into inventory, staff education, and the customer experience. We want the interest a brand creates online to help those stores earn the sale. When shoppers can find the right product nearby, retailers have a better chance to earn that business, and that supports the brands and distributors behind them."
