SAN FRANCISCO — NakedSword has launched a social media campaign to encourage people to vote in the upcoming midterm elections, inspired by the studio's recently released political thriller "Eat the Rich."
The campaign features a number of short-form vertical videos from Ryan Orion, Derek Kage, River North, and Johnny Donovan, the feature's stars.
"Including group and individual messages from the performers, the videos blend the movie’s irreverence with a serious reminder about the power of civic responsibility," said a rep. "The stars encourage fans to recognize that local and midterm elections help determine who makes the decisions that shape their everyday lives, from individual rights and freedoms to healthcare, housing, and the economy – regardless of personal beliefs."
Falcon/NakedSword President and CEO Tim Valenti elaborated on the campaign's message.
"We believe our stars have a powerful platform to connect with audiences beyond entertainment,” he said. "By creating social media videos urging people to take part in the midterm elections, we’re putting our influence to meaningful use by reminding everyone that their voice matters and voting is an important way to make it heard."
Added the title's writer/director, Ben Rush, "'Eat the Rich' was always meant to provoke thought and maybe even inspire people to look at the world around them a little differently. We’re living through a pivotal moment in the United States, and I hope we can play even a small part in motivating people to become involved. I’m especially pleased that Ryan, River, Derek, and Johnny immediately answered the call when Tim and I suggested this campaign. Their enthusiasm and willingness to use their platforms to mobilize fans speaks volumes about who they are as citizens."
