Anissa Kate has made some unique memories over the course of her 15-year career in the adult industry. She fondly remembers shooting under the starry skies of the Nevada desert, and spending the night in the middle of nowhere because the shoot was scheduled to resume early in the morning to catch the sunrise.
It’s moments like those that Kate has made it a point to appreciate and savor — though now that she’s 39 years old, she admits, she’d much rather get a good night’s sleep on a comfortable bed in a fancy Las Vegas hotel.
And since she first entered the adult business in 2011, Kate has grown used to getting her way.
Back then, the French-Arabic performer was a young swinger from Algeria who met her then-boyfriend — a French director in the adult industry — on a swinger website. While they were together, Kate stumbled upon a documentary about French porn star Jessie Volt that proved to be a revelation. It was a lifestyle Kate had never previously considered, but she soon worked up the nerve to give performing a shot.
In fact, she managed to start at the top, kicking off her professional adult career with some well-established, high-end companies.
“I was really lucky to start with Dorcel in France, and with Brazzers in the U.K.,” recalls Kate, who continues to shoot for both companies. “I didn’t have to do a lot of amateur productions at the start of my career.”
She’s also worked a lot in Spain and Budapest, where she recalls her first movie being an Evil Angel title that paired her with Christoph Clark. Only recently did Kate relocate to the U.S., moving to Los Angeles in January 2025.
While it has definitely been a major change, Kate has quickly settled into life in the big city with her wiener dog, Lola. The move has even provided her a little more breathing space — perhaps ironically, given LA’s smoggy rep — since back in France, she would often be recognized in public. While Kate has seen her profile in America rise, she’s only been recognized in public a few times since she arrived in California.
“It can be scary, being recognized,” admits Kate. “Especially in France, because I am half-Arabic. I started to have some really bad anxiety when I had to go out. Sometimes the attention is nice, but sometimes it can be creepy. I was single when I was in France, and I used to live alone in an apartment in Paris. There were times when I was scared. That’s not the only reason I moved to the U.S., but it’s one of the reasons.”
Of course, the move has also enabled Kate to immerse herself in LA’s tight-knit adult community. She cites Ricky Greenwood, with whom she has worked several times, as one of her favorite directors, and is excited to be working with him again on Dorcel’s “Pornochic” series.
“I really like Ricky’s movies,” Kate affirms. “His sets are so professional, and the production design is always amazing. Plus, he’s nice — and he speaks French too.
“Well, Canadian French, which can be hard to understand sometimes!” she jokes.
Kate says that she’d love to work with Angela White again as well.
“I’ve shot with her before, but it was a long time ago,” Kate notes. “She’s one of the greats.”
When she has questions about the business, Kate typically turns to one of her most trusted co-stars, Manuel Ferrara. He may have recently retired from performing, but fortunately, he’s still around to share advice, and Kate sees him as a mentor of sorts.
“I like to resolve my problems alone, so I try not to ask people for help,” confides Kate. “But if I have an issue, I know I can call him, which is nice.”
She can also count on Spiegler Girls, the talent agency that represents her.
“I’m really grateful to be with Mark Spiegler because he’s the best in the industry — everybody knows that,” says Kate. “He has helped me a lot, and he understands that I don’t want to shoot four or five times a week, so he doesn’t put pressure on me. I can have my life. I love working with him, and I know I’m in good hands.”
These days, Kate shoots roughly six days per month, which leaves her time to run her OnlyFans, where she creates custom videos for her fans and does three or four live shows per week, depending on her schedule. She has one scheduled for the day after her interview with X3, with a French performer named Diana Lawrence who arrived in the U.S. just a month earlier.
Getting to speak French is still a relief for Kate. While her English is improving every day (she’s been watching “Desperate Housewives” with the subtitles on because the show helps her with her English), she hasn’t yet been in the U.S. long enough to learn the language’s many intricacies and idioms.
Of course, Kate also doesn’t want to lose her accent entirely. For many fans, it’s part of her appeal. Yet it makes her feel less confident when she has to speak a lot.
That’s one reason why she gets self-conscious when shooting VR scenes. Another is that shooting in VR makes it harder to establish a close physical connection with her co-stars.
For Kate, foreplay is a must, onscreen or off. She especially gets off on teasing her partners — and being teased herself, of course.
“I like the moment just before the sex,” she confides. “The kissing and touching part.”
When the sex is on camera, Kate finds it easiest to get those sparks going in boy/girl scenes. She also likes gangbangs, or threesomes with two male co-stars — and no competition.
“I don’t really like to do boy/girl/girl scenes because I prefer to be the center of attention,” she laughs. “Sometimes girls can be bitchy and jealous. I like having all the guys to myself.”
Of course, she does girl/girl scenes; they’re just not her favorite.
“In general, I prefer dicks,” she declares.
Asked about her other preferences, Kate says she’s drawn to men with confidence — but it doesn’t hurt if you also happen to be a tall, good-looking surfer boy with blonde hair and blue eyes, the opposite of her own dark skin and black hair.
When she’s not walking Lola, shopping or doing Pilates, Kate is a self-described “introvert” who prefers to stay home and lounge by the pool or watch TV in her pajamas. (Lately she’s been checking out “The Last Kingdom” and old episodes of “Charmed” on Netflix.)
After 15 years in this business, Kate says, winning awards doesn’t really matter much to her personally, but the recognition could help her in some practical ways.
“I’m not a citizen yet; I’m here on a work visa,” she explains. “But I really want to stay in this country, so awards help a lot. If I could win Best Female Performer of the Year instead of Best Foreign Female Performer, it would be good, but it may be too soon for that.”
For now, Kate is content with her new life and the state of her career.
“I am in a nice country, in a really nice apartment, and I don’t struggle too much with money,” she says. “I’m not a millionaire, but I can go out to a restaurant and do whatever I want, so I can’t complain.
“And I have my little puppy,” she adds. “So I’m pretty happy.”
Et voila! You can’t put a price on that.
