NEW YORK — Director Bakari and producer Blake Lovely will release an extended trailer for their new anthology feature "Transsexual Horror Stories" on Thursday, Sept. 24.
"Transsexual Horror Stories" features four stories: A lonely trans woman chasing love in Los Angeles learns the truth about the men who want her; an ambitious analyst signs a deal with three seductive demons and gets more than he asked for; a content creator spends the night with a fan and discovers his hidden secrets; and an escort waits in terror for a killer on the loose until a dark truth is revealed that changes everything.
"I wanted to tell stories that were based on the real experience of trans women in the world and make it authentic while also being sexy and fun at the same time," said Bakari. "Everything in this movie has a little truth to it, which I think is what makes it all the scarier."
"Transsexual Horror Stories" stars Amy Nosferatu, Bobbii Rose, Viviana Rose, Esme Rogue, Naomi Whistledown, Brock Swole, Silas Stone, Jake With, and Papi Malo, as well as Lovely and Bakari.
"Getting to be a part of this Grooby feature is everything to me," said Lovely. "'Transsexual Horror Stories' was a concept partly inspired by the TV series 'American Horror Story' and based on what we as trans women experience in real life. For example, in the opening scene, 'Chasers,' the entire narrative revolves around the nightmarish hellscape that is the modern dating world for young trans women constantly being fetishized."
"Having had so many [similar] experiences, it was an exciting role to bring to life on screen," added Lovely. "Bakari is incredibly talented and brought a unique vision to the project. I think people are really going to enjoy this film, and the October 22 release can’t come fast enough."
Bakari enthused about working with Lovely.
"Blake has been a huge part of this project from the beginning, helping me coordinate with talent and offering her own experience making a film last year," said the director. "We couldn’t have done it without her help."
