LAS VEGAS — The Nevada Governor's Office of Economic Development has certified Power Play Studio as a Tier One Local Emerging Small Business.
According to a rep, Power Play Studio is the only adult retailer listed in Nevada's directory of over 1,000 certified Emerging Small Businesses, and it is also the first adult company the state has certified. Certification as a Local Emerging Small Business confirms that a company meets the state's size and locality standards; it is not a state endorsement of a company's products.
"Federal small-business lending has long been closed to adult retail," said a rep. "Small Business Administration rules make any business earning more than a minimal share of its revenue from products of a prurient sexual nature ineligible for its loan programs — a restriction that applies across the sector regardless of how a company trades."
Added Power Play Studio founder and Managing Director Elmer Whittaker, "Adult retail is a legitimate American industry. It employs people; it pays taxes; it follows the law."
