CHICAGO — Cosplayground has released its latest original production, "The Odyssey XXX," a six-part adaptation of Homer's epic Greek poem, ahead of the release of Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey."
Charles Dera stars as Odysseus across all six episodes, which are known in-universe as "Rhapsodies" in a direct nod to the oral tradition of Greek epic poetry. These Rhapsodies cover Odysseus' complete journey, from the fall of Troy to his return to Ithaca.
The rest of the cast includes Ana Foxxx as Helen of Troy, who opens the series; Isa Bella, who appears in multiple episodes as Odysseus' recurring divine protector, Athena; and Anna Claire Clouds, who plays the immortal island queen Calypso, who keeps Odysseus stranded for years.
There's also Tiffany Time as Circe, the sorceress who transforms men into pigs; Octavia Red as the Siren; and Lana Smalls, who closes the series as Penelope, the wife who held down the household for a decade while her husband Odysseus fought his way home.
The feature was written and produced by Yannick Dotes in conjunction with the Cosplayground creative team and directed by Raphaël Massicotte. Gogodor handled editing duties, while Zoe Evans handled production design, with the Cyclops episode filmed in and around actual Las Vegas caves.
All six Rhapsodies of "The Odyssey XXX" will be released between now and July 17, when Nolan's star-studded, big-budget adaptation of "The Odyssey" hits theaters worldwide.
"That is not a coincidence; it is a statement," said a company rep. "Cosplayground got there first."
