On the Set: Adriana Chechik Returns in Ricky Greenwood's New Dorcel Feature

The walls of the Miami hotel room are painted lilac, with neon pink LED strips lining the corners. There’s a fake white plant, and teal drapes frame the lone window. A packed suitcase lies by the door.

The door leads nowhere.

Just out of frame sits a rolling red tool cabinet. Nearby, lilac paint still glistens on the bristles of a paintbrush. The hotel room has been constructed inside a nondescript garage in Canoga Park, California, owned by veteran art directors Kylie Ireland and Andy Appleton. Trucks and film equipment are lined up outside.

It’s just after 1 p.m.

Ireland and Appleton typically use the space to store furniture for their home staging company, but today, it’s a mini soundstage for director Ricky Greenwood's new Dorcel feature, which remains untitled. This is day three of a planned 10-day shoot.

Greenwood describes his latest effort as a cross between David Fincher’s “The Game” and Stanley Kubrick’s “Eyes Wide Shut.” He and his crew initially planned to shoot part of the Dorcel production in Europe, as the original script by Maddy Burton was a globe-trotting affair that included stops in France, Portugal, and Spain. With the current political situation in the United States, however, they decided against traveling with talent and crew. Instead, Greenwood rewrote the script to keep the action stateside.

"A lot of the sex scenes were one-on-one originally, but I wanted to make something a bit more visually exciting with more people fucking in unique locations, like the New York subway and a luxury yacht in Miami," Greenwood explains.

Comeback Kid

When the production heads to Miami to shoot a 22-person orgy aboard said yacht, along for the ride will be the movie’s lead:

Adriana Chechik, back on set and beaming some three years after she sustained multiple spinal fractures while jumping into an improperly padded foam pit at TwitchCon in 2022.

To repair the damage, six of Chechik’s vertebrae had to be fused together, and she was forced to wear a back brace for nine months. She also used a wheelchair and a walker at various points during her recovery.

"It sucked so bad," Chechik recalls. “But it’s been a few years, and I have really good doctors and support staff. So even though I still have day-to-day pain, I feel a lot better. And I'm happy! I was really bored at home.

"I love OnlyFans, but I’m not good at being my own boss," Chechik confesses. "So, around four months ago, I decided to come back. This is the first acting thing I’ve done with a bunch of people on set, which is really exciting.

"I was really nervous about it at first, but I’m learning my limits."

Chechik’s comeback was further delayed after she passed out while shopping at a mall and had to be rushed to a hospital by ambulance.

"I found out my gallbladder was infected, so I had to have surgery, and that put me out for another month," she reveals. "My body just loves throwing curveballs at me, but hopefully that’s the last one for a while."

Matched Pair

In Greenwood's latest Dorcel feature, Chechik stars as Alice, a housewife whose rich husband, Thomas (Tommy Pistol), creates a sex game for her that takes her to different parts of the U.S. But when Thomas is kidnapped, it’s unclear whether it’s real or just part of the game.

Also on set when XBIZ visits is Kylie Rocket, who co-stars as Jane, a sex-loving free spirit whom Thomas hires to guide Alice through the sexual scavenger hunt he has prepared for her.

"Jane is a little freak who likes to fuck random people on trains and airplanes," Rocket explains.

It’s a mystery as to whether Jane is in cahoots with Thomas or genuinely trying to help Alice, but there's plenty of sexual tension between the two women as Jane helps Alice experience a sexual awakening.

Originally, Rocket was slated to play Alice, and Jane was written as a male character, but upon further reflection, Greenwood decided that the protagonist needed to be an older woman, and Rocket was too young for the role.

"Kylie wasn’t going to work for what I was looking for in Alice,” Greenwood says. "So I rewrote the script and gender-flipped that male supporting character because I thought I could explore the character’s sexuality more with Kylie."

Greenwood considered a few different performers for the lead role of Alice, but when he learned through social media about Chechik’s comeback, he sent her the script.

"She loved it," he recalls. "She said, 'Let’s do it.'

Chechik and Rocket are joined by fellow cast members Ana Foxxx, Anissa Kate, Ashley Lane, Chad Alva, Charles Dera, Isiah Maxwell, Derek Savage, Alex Jones, and Abel Godshark, among others.

Rocket says she is excited about working with Chechik for the first time.

"We have a really good dynamic going on," Rocket shares. "I’m very happy to be paired with her."

Fan Club

Rocket is also a big fan of Greenwood, with whom she recently worked on "Wanted."

“I love working with Ricky because it’s very chill,” Rocket says, as veteran hairstylist and makeup artist Elena applies some Sebastian Shaper Zero Gravity Hairspray to give her a "free-spirited hippie" look. “We make fun of each other and don’t ever take it personally. At the same time, he wants to get things done, and so do I, so our days are very productive, but we still manage to have fun together."

Chechik agrees.

"Ricky takes it seriously and values your time," she observes. "And his crew seems to be really close. Even though everyone is busy doing their job, they’re still having fun."

Co-star Tommy Pistol, who has been working with Greenwood for five years and sometimes jokes that he’s the Robert De Niro to Greenwood’s Martin Scorsese, chimes in as well.

"He knows what he wants and how to get it," says Pistol. "Sure, there can be some long days, but I think that’s why he stands out and why he’s doing so well. He’s not rushing to get through the script. He’s more like, 'We’re shooting a movie, so let’s make the best movie we can every time.' That’s what I really respect about him."

Rocket adds happily, "Ricky also typically brings in a chef, so we’re always well fed."

Clearly, Greenwood engenders loyalty in both cast and crew. Their shared "can-do" attitude is quickly evident when Ireland calls for a pair of hands to help carry something heavy, and Pistol wastes no time volunteering. On a Ricky Greenwood shoot, apparently, it’s all hands on deck.

Chechik says she is also thrilled to be working with Dorcel again.

"They always make you look really pretty,” Chechik says. “And they have a really big fan base that’s different from my fans, who typically watch my hardcore stuff.

"It’s nice to have some fans who like to jerk off to some 'normal' stuff," she jokes.

New York in 30 Minutes

Production Manager David Lord presides over the organized chaos of the shoot from a back room, emerging as needed, while DP Matt Holder preps his RED Raptor camera. Holder typically uses a Kimono as a second camera during sex scenes, but he won’t need that today as there’s no sex on the schedule, only dialogue.

Once the Miami hotel room scene is wrapped, the crew goes to work converting it for the next scene. First, the lilac walls are painted a darker hue to signal New York — "Shit brown," laughs one crew member. The teal curtains are replaced by white ones, and a new bed is placed in the center of the still-drying room. There are new nightstands as well. There’s even a giant image of Big Apple-style buildings positioned outside the window to help sell the illusion.

"There’s no point in spending a lot of money to go to New York when we can build a New York hotel room here and rent a studio with a subway car," says Greenwood. "I’ll add some stock footage of New York to make it look authentic."

Impressively, the crew turns the set around in just 30 minutes, while Chechik lies on a dressing room bed, running lines with Rocket.

"Ricky dumbed the script down for me because I’m dyslexic," Rocket jokes.

On set, Chechik flashes her toothy, radiant smile and asks boom operator T.J. Westwood how heavy the boom is, and if his arms ever get tired.

Westwood allows Chechik to hold the boom, but she quickly hands it back to him.

"My arms get tired if I just hold them in the air for a few minutes," Chechik says.

With a day full of dialogue, Westwood has his work cut out for him. Still, there are occasional moments of downtime, during which crew members scroll on their phones or gripe about their fantasy football teams while Beastie Boys music blares in the background.

Once the New York scene wraps, everyone will pick up and drive to a bookstore in Glendale, where Chechik’s character will find a note from her husband. The day’s shooting started around noon, and Greenwood expects to wrap around 10 p.m. — a longer day than usual due to the crew having to flip the set and move to a second location during rush hour.

"That’s going to fuck us over a little bit," admits Greenwood, who likes to control everything on set but is powerless to do anything about Los Angeles traffic.

Things to Come

Fortunately, Greenwood and company have plenty more to look forward to on the horizon than just traffic jams.

Chechik has a big gangbang planned with Darkko in November and is currently waiting for Vixen to release a few scenes she’s shot with the company. Come January, she will also be attending her first fan convention in several years: X3 Expo.

Rocket, for her part, has been balancing studio shoots with making custom content for high-paying customers on days she has to herself.

She recently shot a new scene for Dorcel that co-stars Marco Bull and Matthew Meier. Filmed in Paris, it was her first time visiting the City of Lights, and she spent several hours roaming the Louvre. She also stopped by the Eiffel Tower on the last day of her trip.

"I always wanted to go to the top of Paris, so that’s what I did," she says.

Meanwhile, Pistol is exploring writing and directing and learning production management by shadowing other industry folks.

"Performing is great, but after 20 years of doing this, you just hit a point where you want to do more," he reflects. "I’ve made so many good connections with a lot of directors and crews, and those relationships mean a lot to me and have made me very happy."

Pistol is writing a horror script at the moment and recently relished the opportunity to direct a scene for Hentaied’s Parasited website, which features copious amounts of slime and goo.

As for Greenwood, once production wraps in early November, he will supervise editing for two months. The movie will then be dubbed into five different languages. It will likely be complete by summer, but Dorcel isn’t expected to release the movie until September, when it will likely be the company’s big awards contender.

This year, Greenwood’s Digital Playground movies "Wanted" and "Deadly Vows" will both be in the running, as will "Strip," which he directed for Dorcel.

"Awards are good for the ego,” the director muses. "But what makes me happy is seeing someone like Kylie go from 'Wanted' to an even bigger movie like this one. Being able to help my actors achieve their dreams is all the validation I need."
