NEW YORK — Screw Magazine will bring back its Peter Meter adult film rating system on Oct. 6.
"Long before porn was reviewed in mainstream outlets, Screw set the standard by offering the first critical reviews of adult films, pulling smut out of the gutter and into the cultural conversation," said a rep. "Now, nearly six decades later, the Peter Meter returns to reclaim its throne as the Shangri-La of porn criticism."
Per the Peter Meter scale, first launched in 1968, releases will be rated from 1 limp peter to 5 raging erections, with fractions in between. All Peter Meter reviews will appear on Screw's website and in Screw Magazine’s upcoming print revival. Ratings will also be distributed to major industry news outlets.
"For decades, a Peter Meter rating was the must-have endorsement in adult cinema," the rep added. "To score high on the Peter Meter was to achieve instant notoriety and marketing gold. Now, as adult filmmaking evolves, Screw's rating system will once again be the badge of honor every producer craves and every consumer trusts."
