NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Clinical psychologist and sex therapist Dr. Caleb Jacobson has launched a study, "Exploring the Religious Histories and Spiritual Narratives of Pornographic Actors."
The purpose of the study is to understand how religion and spirituality intersect with the lived experiences of adult performers.
"The research invites performers across roles, genders, and career stages to add their voices to a topic where they are too often spoken about rather than heard," said a rep. "This project aims to document real experiences, challenge stigma, and inform clinicians, educators, and the public with accurate, performer-led insight. Every response helps build a more nuanced, respectful understanding of life in adult entertainment."
Participation requires taking a confidential 10–15 minute online survey. There will be an optional follow-up interview if a participant wishes to share more details.
“Whether performers felt judged by their faith or empowered by their spirituality, these stories matter," said Jacobson. "By sharing your experiences, you can help challenge stigma and create a more honest picture of how religion and sexuality truly intersect.”
