Serenity Cox Reflects on Trading Scrubs for Adult Stardom

Serenity Cox is halfway through her neighborhood’s Canada Day picnic when she dashes home to chat with XBIZ. She’s sun-kissed and relaxed as she opens up an ice pop and gets comfortable.

“It’s very hot today,” she laughs, fanning herself lightly. “So I’m sweating and having this freezie while we talk.”

In denim overalls and a simple black tank top, blonde bob tucked neatly behind her ears, she looks far more ready for backyard barbecues than a studio set — but perhaps that’s what makes her so magnetic. On set, she’s all sultry glamour. In person, she’s the neighbor you want to sit beside at a cookout.

‘I hadn’t realized porn could be like that’

Cox’s journey into porn wasn’t exactly plotted on a vision board. Like many things in her life, it just evolved naturally — and authentically.

“My husband and I were on this hotwife journey together, and we started filming some of it just for fun,” she recalls. “We were sharing content on OnlyFans and Pornhub, but it was all just amateur stuff. It wasn’t until Milfy reached out to me that I even considered doing anything professional.”

At the time, she admits, she had never even heard of Vixen, the studio behind the Milfy banner.

“This was 2023, and they offered to send me a free membership to check out their content,” she says. “I was blown away. It was so beautiful! I hadn’t realized porn could be like that — so high-end and fantasy-driven. I was really drawn to how Milfy portrayed the woman as the one in charge. She’s the boss, the one calling the shots. That really appealed to me.”

Once Milfy invited her to shoot a hotwife scene — a perfect “baby step” into the professional world — she was hooked.

“I ended up signing a contract with Vixen, and now they’re the only company I’ve worked with professionally,” she says. “But my main business is still our own content. My husband and I still film our hotwife stuff together, and we have fun with it locally.”

Getting to Live Life

Before being catapulted to adult stardom, Cox worked full-time in emergency trauma nursing for 16 years. It was a high-pressure, emotionally draining job, and eventually she found herself at a crossroads.

“I balanced both jobs for a while,” she says. “I didn’t need the money from nursing anymore, but I stayed because I was senior and they didn’t have a lot of nurses who could do what I did. I really loved my team, too. There was a camaraderie. But ultimately I wanted to spend more time with the people I love.

“I had the opportunity to have a great work-life balance and not do shift work anymore,” she concludes. “So I just had to let go of the guilt.”

As it turned out, that decision wasn’t just life-changing — it was personality-changing. Cox’s husband told her, “You’re just nicer now. You’re more full of energy. You’re happier.”

“It’s true,” she affirms. “I didn’t even realize how burned out I was until I left. We’re taught that you have to work your butt off all the time. But I realized I could actually enjoy what I do and still make a living.

“Now we shoot content maybe once a week,” she adds. “The rest of the time is running the business side — social media, platforms — but I get to spend the bulk of my time living life.”

For Cox, life at its best is about simplicity.

“Just hanging out with friends and loved ones around the neighborhood,” is how she describes a perfect day. “Going to a barbecue. Doing absolutely nothing.”

Highlights and Firsts

The sense of joy and freedom Cox describes seems to translate to her work onscreen.

“People tell me all the time, ‘You look like you’re actually having fun,’” she grins. “And I am!”

That energy didn’t go unnoticed this year at the 2025 XMAs, where Cox took home two trophies: one for her performance in “American MILF” and another in the fan-voted “Fav MILF Performer” category.

“That night was surreal,” she marvels. “The awards were back to back, so I sat down and then immediately got back up! ‘American MILF’ was a huge production, so I wasn’t too surprised it won something, but the fan award meant so much to me. When it’s fan-voted, it’s a different kind of special.”

Maintaining that bond with fans, Cox explains, takes intention and boundaries.

“It’s a balance,” she reflects. “You give them a little bit of yourself, but not everything. I probably could share more, but I’m happy with how we do it. It’s just me and my husband running everything. We split the work 50/50.

“He’s the one who motivates me,” Cox adds. “We make it look a little glamorous, but we’re just regular folks.”

Or at least as “regular” as you can be when you’re also an exclusive contract performer for Vixen — a studio she holds in high regard.

“They’ve just been so good to me,” Cox gushes. “I haven’t even looked elsewhere. I love working with directors like Kayden Kross and Derek Dozer. They’re so different but equally amazing.”

Kross, she says, is all about vision.

“She knows exactly how she wants it to look,” Cox says admiringly. “She sees the big picture and brings it to life. I love watching her work.”

And Dozer?

“He’s incredibly present on set,” she shares. “He’ll take you aside, talk through what’s going to happen, ask how you feel. You just feel really taken care of.”

Cox’s next chapter may include an even deeper partnership with Vixen. While she couldn’t reveal specifics just yet, she hinted at a new role for the studio’s Wifey imprint.

“There’s a lot of cool stuff in the works,” she says. “There’s a new scene coming out this summer that’s a big first for me.”

‘You can still be sexy’

Asked what advice she’d give to someone hoping to break into the MILF category, Cox’s response is passionate and layered.

“I feel like it’s really shifted,” she says. “It’s not just the classic ‘stepmom’ stuff. It’s about celebrating women who are mature and sexy and real. I think we’re finally showing that women in their 30s, 40s and 50s are still having amazing sex lives.

“That was kind of the message in the stuff I did with my husband — that you can be a regular married lady and still have a really fun sex life,” she continues. “Whether you’re monogamous or non-monogamous like we are, you can explore and celebrate together. You can embrace your sexual self. It doesn’t have to end after you have kids, or when you reach a certain age where people think you shouldn’t be sexy anymore — because you can still be sexy.”

Cox believes that shift reflects changes in both content and audience.

“The internet has aged with us,” she says. “People watching porn now aren’t all in their 20s — a lot of viewers are in their 40s, 50s, 60s. They want to see people their age, or people who feel accessible.

“A lot more women are watching porn too,” Cox reflects. “When I watched the content Milfy sent me, I thought, ‘I would watch this for enjoyment.’ I want to see a woman having a great time. I want to see her being the focus. That’s what turns me on — seeing her pleasure. And I think a lot of women feel the same way.”

As for what’s next, Cox isn’t trying to map it all out.

“We’ll see where it goes,” she says philosophically. “Right now, I’m just grateful I get to do something I love — and still have time to enjoy the people who matter most.”
