HOUSTON — Ameena Green recently attended Dream Con in Houston, Texas, where the self-proclaimed "Blasian nerd" connected with fellow anime fans and co-hosted a panel on diversity and representation in media.
The panel also featured Hilton G. George, founder and CEO of Blerdcon; TJ Sterling, CEO of RAE Comics; and Kyle Dargan, American University professor and Books Editor for Janelle Monáe’s Wondaland Arts Society.
Together, they explored the importance of inclusivity in the entertainment industry, underscoring Green’s ongoing advocacy for equitable representation. Later, she shared valuable advice with aspiring creatives looking to build and elevate their own brands.
"I’m extremely happy I attended Dream Con this year," said Green. "I met so many amazing people, hung out with my favorite peeps, and I’m thrilled to see I have such a huge fan base that’s just as nerdy as me. Anime fans are some of the most open and creative people out there. This culture resonates with me in ways that are hard to explain. I just feel at home here."
