EP Products Founder Don Wilson Passes Away

PORT COQUITLAM, British Columbia — Don Wilson, the founder of EP Products and a notable figure in Canada's adult retail community, has passed away. He was 78.

"Dear industry friends, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Don Wilson on March 29, 2025," the EP Products team wrote in an email to customers and business associates.

"Don was not just a leader in our industry; he was a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration to all who had the privilege of working with him," read the email. "For over 25 years, Don dedicated himself tirelessly to the industry, and his legacy of hard work, integrity, and kindness has left an indelible mark on all of us. His influence will be felt for years to come, and he will be greatly missed."

Wilson practically stumbled into a successful career selling sex toys, having launched EP Products in 2013 out of necessity. At the time, he was selling adult videos to retail stores, but he saw the retail industry changing with the rise of e-commerce sites such as Amazon and felt he "had to look at other avenues to continue to be an entrepreneur," as he told XBIZ in 2022.

Wilson decided to expand his inventory, so he took over his brother-in-law's warehouse space and hired him to run the company's shipping operation. Wilson's sister and niece soon began working in the office, and almost accidentally, a family business was born.

Today, the Canadian distribution company offers more than 3,000 items from its headquarters in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia.

"It is rewarding to help and educate store owners, who in turn can share the knowledge with consumers," said Wilson, who always strived to bridge the sales and education gap between manufacturers and retailers. "Our focus is always on the customers’ success," he added.

While Wilson recently sold EP Products after steering the company through the COVID-19 pandemic, he continued to serve as its director of sales, as well as the co-owner and general manager of Little Sister's Book & Art Emporium in Vancouver.

Tributes poured in from throughout the industry on Thursday as news of Wilson's passing spread across social media.

"Don was a generous mentor, always willing to share his knowledge with others in the industry," wrote Lindsay Allain, the head buyer for Pleasures N' Treasures.

"Whether it was offering advice on navigating challenges, helping newcomers understand the business landscape, or providing guidance to those opening their own stores, he was a trusted source of support. His mentorship helped shape the journeys of many independent retailers, strengthening the community in ways that will be felt for years to come," wrote Allain, who called Wilson "a respected member in the adult industry" and said he "will be missed greatly."

Cheri Curry, the director of sales and marketing at Tantus, wrote that Wilson was one of the very first people she met in the industry.

"He was such a fine, good soul — always generous with a hug, a smile, and good advice. May his memory be a blessing," she wrote.

Tonja Hoyle of Luv Ya said that "Don was always polite, kind, and calm, which was such a delightful break during busy shows. He kept eye contact while speaking and let you know he heard everything you had to say. I can only imagine the amazing friend he was to so many. He will be greatly missed."

Hamed Bosset-Allen of SOS Distribution said, "We lost a gem. Rest in peace, Don. I'm going to miss your hugs and your funny little jokes. ANME definitely won't be the same without your soft-spoken, loving presence. You were always a mentor and supporter, not only to me but to many of us in the industry."

Rob Reimer of Fort Troff noted that Wilson was always "a pleasure to do business with. I looked forward to seeing him at ANME every year. He was a true gem, and I wish there were more like him."

Like A Kitten's Blanca Estrada-Gonzalez wrote that she was "truly sorry, saddened and heartbroken by the news of Don’s passing. This really hits hard. He was so much more than just a colleague/customer — he was a true friend."

"Don was one of those rare souls who always took the time to sit with me, share his wisdom, and offer life advice," added Estrada-Gonzalez. "His kindness and presence will be deeply missed. My heart goes out to everyone who loved him."

The EP Products team has invited those who knew Wilson to join them in "celebrating his life, his remarkable contributions, and the profound impact he had on both our professional and personal lives."

A Celebration of Life will be held in Wilson's honor at The Junction on Davie Street in Vancouver, B.C., on Tuesday, April 15, at 2 p.m.

Wilson is survived by his sister Verna, who co-owned EP Products and Little Sisters with him, as well as his sisters Wendy and Hazel, and three brothers — Ray, Jim, and Al.
