Not everyone gets to tell their story to the world. But then again, not everyone is twice-crowned XMA Trans Performer of the Year Emma Rose.
Since Rose also happens to be an Adult Time ambassador, add Bree Mills to the mix. The Adult Time CCO’s commitment to working collaboratively with talent so that performers feel a sense of ownership has led to projects like Kimmy Kimm’s recent scene celebrating the AAPI community, “Finally! … An All-Girl Asian Orgy Extravaganza.”
Just as that scene was heavily inspired by Kimm’s own life, the four-part Adult Time miniseries “Emma Rose: Discovering Myself” draws upon the titular star’s personal experiences, desires and fantasies.
<p“ This series is inspired by the way my sexuality bloomed, like a rose unfolding petal by petal,” says Rose. “At the start of my transition, I didn’t know many other trans women who were also curious and fluid. That made it difficult to work through these new feelings. So it wasn’t until my first year in the industry that I began to realize how naturally curious I was — about women, trans women and the freedom to shift effortlessly between roles.
“My desires blossomed when I started exploring with couples, falling in love with the beauty and fluidity of it all,” she adds. “Once I experienced the energy of both a man and a woman together, everything made sense.”
Helping that story make sense to viewers led Rose and Mills to craft a four-part narrative structure, with each part highlighting a single, distinct sexual experience that is deeply personal to Rose’s journey of self-acceptance.
Mills explains, “Each episode presents a unique pairing that we can promote inclusively through Transfixed, with Emma at the center of all the stories.”
The first of those stories is a trans/cis lesbian story with fellow ambassador Casey Calvert. The second episode is a trans/cis straight threesome featuring Casey and Steve Rickz. The third is a dream fantasy with Emma and popular femboy talent Foxy Alex, and the finale is a group scene featuring both cis and trans co-stars: Zariah Aura, Ana Foxxx and trans male actor Viktor Belmont.
“We decided to highlight these as a miniseries under the ‘Transfixed’ brand, where she has a dedicated following,” Mills notes. “It’s also one of the first projects where we’ve tested a cross-series release strategy, with Episode 3 being promoted as part of both ‘Transfixed’ and our femboy-focused ‘Femboyish’ series.”
That strategy seems to have paid off, as “Discovering Myself” not only made Adult Time’s “Top 10 Most Satisfying Scenes” list for October, but also scored a 2025 XMA nomination for Best Trans Movie. It also helped push Adult Time into new territory.
“This project lets us explore a new kind of performer showcase that moves beyond the typical ‘firsts,’” notes Mills. “Instead, it highlights the types of scenes, storylines and sexual experiences that are personally meaningful to the performer — whether they’ve done them on camera before or not.”
The first of those storylines is titled “Unexpected Confessions.” It features a nervous Rose experiencing her first time with a woman, played by Casey Calvert.
“Casey was the obvious, perfect choice for the role,” Rose says. “The chemistry between her and me was incredible, and you can really see that in the final footage. She has a quiet yet commanding energy that fit seamlessly, especially since my early experiences with couples were often driven by the woman making the decisions.”
Calvert plays one half of a married couple: a wife whose spouse, played by Steve Rickz, then appears in the threesome-themed second installment, “Expanding Horizons.”
Adult Time brought Rickz in based on Rose’s recommendation.
“She was highly involved in selecting all her co-stars,” Mills says. “The two share strong chemistry and a solid working relationship, and he certainly delivered on the day of filming. He was extremely professional, communicated well with both Emma and Casey, and together the three created a fantastic, extended threesome scene.”
Rose concurs, enthusing, “Bringing in Steve Rickz to play the versatile husband was exactly what I envisioned for the dynamic! Once we brought Steve into the mix, it just elevated everything. The top priority was creating an organic and natural atmosphere for a first-timer to explore, and Casey and Steve brought that to life beautifully.”
Episode 3, the Transfixed/Femboyish collaboration “Dreams and Desires,” takes Rose’s explorations in a new direction as she teams up with Foxy Alex for what Mills calls “a dreamy, hyper-femme fantasy.”
“The episode is a visual treat, showing the duo getting ready together before engaging in an explosive, versatile sex scene,” Mills says.
For Rose, it was another important piece in the gender-and-sexuality puzzle the series so painstakingly assembles.
“I cast Foxy Alex to push this wave of exploration even further,” she affirms. “Filming with a femboy was incredibly important to me because there’s been so little content featuring trans women with femboys. It’s long overdue, and I’m thrilled to be part of that representation. Plus, having a day of dress-up and sexy fun with Foxy Alex was such a blast!”
Calvert co-directed and co-produced Episode 3 with Mills, then solo-directed the finale, “A Spectrum of Connections.” Shot in November, the final installment features Rose leading Aura, Foxxx and Belmont in a climactic group scene as, inspired by her previous experiences and ready to share her newfound confidence and sexual freedom, she initiates a fun encounter with a trans man and another trans woman. It is due for release early in 2025.
Rose rates her collaborative process with Mills as a very positive experience.
“We both brought our strengths to the table,” she says. “I took the lead in shaping the overall vision, and Bree translated that into the scripts. She also helped solidify the casting choices I had in mind, as I had very specific performers I wanted to spotlight, who I knew would support my vision. On set, I was able to focus entirely on my performance while Bree and the crew handled things behind the scenes.”
Might “Discovering Myself” pave the way for more creative ventures by Rose and/or Adult Time?
“I’m hoping this format continues to resonate with fans of Adult Time,” Rose reflects. “I’d love to see it evolve into something we can repurpose for future projects. Not just for my journey, but as a way to help other performers tell their stories as well.”
