Gal Ritchie left her home in the U.K. and arrived in Los Angeles on Aug. 12, 2023. She remembers the exact date because it was such a key moment in her life.
“I am very passionate about being here, in this industry,” she stresses. Her alert, penetrating eyes punctuate her words. “That’s the No. 1 thing I want my fans to know about me.”
Over brunch in Sherman Oaks, she recalls that unusually torrid summer.
“I came for two weeks to see if I would like it here, and I landed in that record heat,” she reminisces. “It was unbelievably hot. Coming from England to that? I was dying!”
The scorching heat didn’t faze her, though. Talk to Ritchie for a while and it becomes clear that few things do.
“I went back home, packed up two suitcases and moved out here full time,” she says. “I’ve been here ever since.”
With set-ready hair and makeup, a designer bag and trendy sunglasses perched above her hairline, Gal looks exactly on brand: a new LA transplant with showbiz dreams. Any onlooker’s first guess would likely be “actress taking meetings.” She’s still adjusting, however. She Ubered to our Valley brunch interview because she doesn’t drive yet.
“I want people to understand how determined I am to get somewhere and be here for a long time,” she says with irrefutable confidence while working on a starlet salad, also very much on brand. “I don’t want to be in the industry for one year and then do something else, or use it in order to get somewhere else. I want to be here for the next five to seven years, if not longer. I would love to go into directing, producing. I am determined to have a long, lasting career.”
The ambitious brunette on a mission to take America by storm — shades of Angela White — has already impressed some key people with her focus and determination. Among them: top agent Mark Spiegler. The canny veteran behind-the-scenes star-maker has taken Gal under his wing as his protegé and for months has been personally mentoring her and talking her up as his latest Big Find.
