‘Naked News’ Expands Format to Gay Market

TORONTO – With an ensemble of stripping male anchors, NakedNewsDailyMale.com debuted Tuesday.

The site, which expands the 5-year-old “Naked News” format to the gay community, includes news and features in 22 minutes, updated daily at 2 p.m. (PST).

The six “Naked News Daily Male” anchors present news and commentary from a gay perspective while completely naked. They also report on fashion, finance, health and fitness, gay travel, and where to find the best clubs, parties and events.

“We find that program is so provocative, entertaining and unique,” Naked News spokesman Bradley Moseley-Williams told XBiz. “And when we studied the concept of 'Naked News Daily Male,' we found what interests gay men in Los Angeles also interests gay men on the East Coast. There is a societal connection and gay news seems to be global.”

Moseley-Williams said “Naked News” has had a 5-minute edition on the traditional “Naked News” for several years and that the daily broadcast reaches 25 million.

With “Naked News Daily Male,” the company has created a new set and hired new newswriters at production facilities in Toronto.

Moseley-Williams also said the new show will expand features of interest to gay men and pro-nudists.

“We’ll have a segment called 'Cooking in the Raw,' and we’ve hired some fun anchors,” he said. “We’ve retained dragqueen Enza Supermodel, who once ran for mayor in Toronto and who currently writes the ‘Hot Ticket’ column for the Metro [a Toronto Star publication].”

Executive Director David Warga told XBiz that the male show is less structured than its female counterpart.

“You’re going to see that ‘Daily Male’ is talking to the audience and not so formal,” Warga said. “We think it is going to be great for sales.”

Warga said it is producing the show cable- and satellite-ready, and will make it available for licensing and foreign language distribution. "Naked News" is already available on In-Demand and On-Command networks, which provide in-room hotel video entertainment.

It is also available with wireless media, including PDAs, as well, but the company has not yet signed any distribution deals.
