Kendra Sunderland Arrested by Texas Sheriff Dept. Over Less Than 1 Ounce of Pot

CONROE, Texas — Officers of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in Texas arrested Kendra Sunderland earlier this month for possession of less than one ounce of THC.

Sunderland was arrested Aug. 1, although the incident was first reported by gossip news site TMZ over the weekend.

According to TMZ, the popular performer also known as Library Girl was arrested “in broad daylight — a little past high noon on August 1, and prosecutors say she had less than one gram of THC. Cops aren’t saying what led to her bust.”

For comparison, items that weigh one ounce or less include a common house key, a postage stamp, up to 10 pennies or 30 paperclips.

“I’ve been advised not to say anything,” Sunderland, a Nevada resident, told TMZ. “I’m not trying to incriminate myself any further. I just know that I’m not a criminal. I’m just a stoner.”

Montgomery County is located in the Greater Houston area of Texas, where possession of marijuana is still illegal. County Sheriff Rand Henderson is a staunch Republican, endorsed by a local columnist during his recent reelection campaign as someone who “is not afraid to pray in public” and “is unapologetically conservative and Christian.”

Sunderland was released from custody after posting a $1,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court next month.
