LOS ANGELES — Disruptive Films will release “Case of the Ex,” a featurette written and directed by Micah Martinez, in November.
The scene follows stars Derek Kage and Tony Genius as two men who had a messy breakup years prior, then unexpectedly reunite while dating new people. While navigating the complexities of their past relationship, they confront the undeniable sparks that still exist between them.
“I honestly cannot think of a scene I am prouder of,” said Martinez. “Disruptive Films is a site and concept I’ve loved from the beginning, and being in a position to be a part of it is still wild to me — even now that the scene is already done. There’s very little time I get to put so many real-life elements of my own story into a featurette like this and I could not ask for a better cast or crew to have worked with me on this one! I am incredibly thankful."
Kage added, "It was fiery between Tony Genius and me, and this featurette set a new bar for any future projects I work on. We had a great director, videographer, PA, set, script and cast. The scene has 'awards' written all over it for how well it was done and the passion everyone put into this."
Genius said, "This scene posed one of my most challenging, yet rewarding, acting experiences on set. There was a lot of range to complement our amazing chemistry. Derek Kage is the perfect scene partner, and with Micah behind the camera, everything became so easy."
