Pornhub Releases 2023 'Year in Review' Report

MONTREAL — Pornhub this week released its “Pornhub’s Year in Review Insights” report for 2023, the 10th anniversary of the Aylo tube site’s statistics, data analysis and infographic initiative.

The report features infographics and statistics breaking down searches according to gender, sexual orientation, state-by-state search habits, the time people spend on Pornhub and other data reported by the company.

Among the 2023 data, highlights include “Most Searched Porn Stars” (Abella Danger, Angela White, Eva Elfie, Lana Rhoades and Violet Myers top the list), “Most Searched Terms in the U.S.” (lesbian, MILF, hentai, Latina, ebony) and “Top 20 Countries by Traffic” (led by U.S., Philippines, France, Mexico and the U.K.).

According to the report, "mature" porn was 2023’s top trend.

“In 2023, the MILF category gained +1 spot to become the 5th most viewed category worldwide and the Mature category gained +1 to become the 7th most viewed worldwide, growing in popularity by +69%. Mature is now the 2nd most popular category among men, and the 5th for women,” the report states.

Other trending topics were size, sex machines and uniforms. Among the more unusual findings, the report spotlights searches for the keyword “therapy."

“I find it interesting that ‘therapy’ is a porn search word,” said sexpert Dr. Laurie Betito, of Pornhub’s Sexual Wellness Center. “More and more people, thankfully, are seeking help for mental health and sexual issues, which is great. However, at the same time, fantasies involving a patient/therapist relationship turned sexual is quite common, probably because it is taboo and involves a power differential.”

In real life, Betito added, “clients can experience feelings for a therapist (transference) because of the nature of the relationship (the client shares very intimate details of their life and feels safe), and this can turn into fantasies of a sexual nature. The forbidden nature of the relationship also may fuel this fantasy.”
