Activist Group Creates Sex Toy to Expose 2022 Soccer World Cup Corruption

DOHA, Qatar — Activist group Congress for Urban Malfeasance (CUM) has created a sex toy shaped like the main stadium for the 2022 Qatar soccer World Cup, to highlight corruption and human rights violations during the organization of the event.

The Fleshlight-style masturbator features a silicone likeness of the Al Janoub soccer stadium in Doha, Qatar, designed by celebrity architect Zaha Hadid, in lieu of the usual cast of a famous porn performer’s genitalia.

CUM stated that the toy calls attention to “the most outstanding examples of financial promiscuity in the architectural and urban realm,” including the “high cost, corruption and human rights abuses it took” to build the Al Janoub stadium.

CUM’s Shan Raoufi told news site Fast Company, “The main thrust of our criticism is the use of public goods for enriching people that don’t necessarily need vast amounts of public money.”

Raoufi works for the New York-based architecture and design firm Wolfgang & Hite, which began staging similar stunts in 2019 “with a set of dildos shaped like the towers of New York’s Hudson Yards, another real estate development project that received significant public funding,” Fast Company reported.
